Hope, Change Become Grope, Harangue

The best characterization of Obama's speech today: "Hope and Change Become Grope and Harangue." Only Barack Obama could create a situation where, by contrast, Dick Cheney starts sounding like Abraham Lincoln. Michelle Obama once famously said, "America is a downright mean country." From the evidence of her husband's remarks, he clearly agrees with her.

There was much to dislike about the substance of Obama's ridiculous speech on "national security" (national insecurity?), but the worst part of it was his incredibly pompous tone. We often hear what a "great speaker" Obama is. In fact, he's a terrible speaker, and his speechwriter isn't any better.

He's in love with phrases like "on a daily basis." What that really means is "daily." The other words -- on, a, and basis -- are unnecessary. A good, straightforward speaker would know that.

He also uses uses phrases like "categorically reject" whenever he's talking about anything done by George W. Bush. What's the difference between "categorically reject" and just plain "reject?" There is no difference.

My friend Jill in Hawaii notes some more obnoxious Obamaisms: he also likes to use the phrases "fundamentally disagree" and "let me clearly state." All his minions use the same phrases (I just saw one on Fox News).

"Fundamentally disagree" means nothing more than "disagree." As for his "let me clearly state," the words are all unnecessary. Just state it, Barack. Don't tell us that you're about to state something.

Barack also tells us he's against "fear-mongering." Gee, is there anyone in America advocating it? The Obama Administration seems to believe that anyone with a justifiable fear of terrorism belongs on Napolitano's long list of supposed extremists.

In his speech today Barack talked of the "hateful ideology" of the people who used to be called, in a previous administration, terrorists. Alas, Obama didn't tell us anything about that ideology or who holds it. To do so might have offended some Muslims, the source of the aforesaid hateful ideology. Of course, a man who could sit through Rev. Wright's sermons for 20 years may have a strange definition of what's hateful.

Obama is NOT a great speaker. He's a guy with a baritone voice who reads a TelePrompter filled up with some inept speechwriter's words. Obama has too many words and too little substance. In short, he's a windbag.

Obama: Racism, Cynicism, Infanticide

This absolutely unprecedented Hillary-McCain image above appeared on the main McCain web site.

On the Yahoo site called Hilalry's Eighteen Million Supporters, Darla asked the following:
Where are the discussions about Obama's stand on gun> control, abortion, or the economy? How do we derail his bid for the> oval office?

My response was as follows:

Darla asked what Obama's stand was on abortion. Again, that's easy to answer, as he toes the NARAL line. He knows that embryos don't vote and neither do infants. (He is correct on that point.)

As for his stand on abortion, he believes it should be allowed to take place in any and all instances, right up until the ninth month of pregnancy. (I know he's been doing some shucking and jiving lately on this issue.)

On abortion generally, he opposed in Illinois The Live Birth Infant Protection Act. That means he wanted to deny medical care to infants born alive as result of botched abortions. His view apparently was that nurses and physicians should be allowed to pretend the live infant was in fact dead.

In short, he not only believes in just about any and all abortions, but he also seemingly believes in infanticide.

Those who are "pro-choice" in the extreme will vote for Barack H. Obama. Those who believe in protecting the lives of all infants born alive will vote for John McCain.

Obama and the Politics of Cynicism, Racism

Here's how Jack, a Hillary Supporter, described Obama's tactics: It appears that the McCain campaign is following the same approach. What both Hillary faced and McCain is facing is a collection of radical racists that the public has merely witnessed the surface of. It takes a lot of punching and a combative approach to counter them that the politically correct have no capacity for. The Obama people are stealing the inheritance of the meek. Never forget Father Pfleger's ridicule of Hillary, playing to the prejudice and bitterness of a captive group of pawns in Reverend Wright's "church." It needs to be returned to him fourfold.

My response to Jack:

Jack, you are absolutely 100% correct, Dryden, and that is exaclty what I'm doing. In Pennsylvania and other states, as Nader suggested, Obama is running commercials directed to white pople, emphasizing (and showing graphics of) his white relatives.

Gee, why isn't he aiming some of the hundreds of millions worth of commercials to Black people? Because he assumes he has them as a captive voting bloc.

Thus, the Black candidate is, as Nader observed, running as a "white guy." Many Black people spoke out against the Wright-Pfleger racism, but many others didn't. Why not? Because when BHO was running as the "Black" candidate, they were afraid to. commment They feared social ostracism.

I sincrely hope all people of good will, Democrat or Republican, conservative or moderate, will denounce the racism in Obama's books (especially Dreams from My Father), commercials, and speeches. A guy who runs as a Black man in South Carolina and a white man in Wyoming is really not someone America needs.

I realize some Democrats believe it's okay to know these things but fear it's not okay to say them. I say what I believe and what the evidence shows.

For goodness sake, read that awful book -- Dreams from My Father -- and see the kind of Black liberation nonsense he's spewing. If you really believe in a racially tolerant and diverse country, then please say so. And that definitely means "NoBama."

Not in 2008, and not ever.

If you want to join the huge and growing NoBama movement, go now to: http://www.nobamamission.com/ and sign up to defeat this inexperienced, unqualified, dishonest, and -- frankly -- dangerous candidate.

Hillary Supporters: Barack Obama Despicable

Gov. Sarah Palin after signing bill benefiting soldiers of the Alaska National Guard. Sarah's and Todd Palin's son, Track, age 18, is an infantryman in the U.S. Army. He and and his best friend both enlisted on September 11, 2007.

Below: Alaska Gov. Sarah Heath Palin with baby son Trig swaddled. Picture is with Sarah and legislators on capital steps in Juneau. Sarah is now the front-runner for the GOP vice presidential nomination. This weekend I'll have separate columns about Gov. Palin on this national blog and my "Hillary Supporters for McCain" blog. I urge you to bookmark these sites and visit them often.

The biggest buzz in the blogosphere nowadays reflects the vast number of Hillary Clinton supporters who intend to vote for McCain. As I explain on my Hillary Supporters for McCain blog -- the original such site -- one of the Hillary supporters for McCain may be the New York Senator herself.

Here's the link: Doesn't Hillary Really Favor McCain?

On the above linked column at that popular site, I assert the following: Tomorrow, Senator Clinton will endorse a man she despises: Barack Obama.

Her heart definitely will not be in it.More to follow here about why I believe Hillary Clinton will be "blowing smoke" at us in her Saturday endorsement of Barack Obama. She's going to have her fingers crossed. Everything Sen. Clinton does between now and November 4 is going to be based not on the 2008 election, but on the one in 2012. Right now, she's in full "grin-and-bear-it" mode. Conversely, her supporters are not grinning -- and, as we hear in the movie "Network," they're "not going to take it any more."

Let's see, what did Barack and his surrogates (including Rev. Wright and Father Pfleger) say about Hillary? That she's a chronic liar, that she's a warmonger (for supporting the Iraq War Resolution), and a racist. They also profoundly misrepresented the assasination of Bobby Kennedy. Other than those things, I guess, they feel she's okay.

Hillary was badly trashed in the Democratic primaries. And the person running the trash machince was none other than Barack Obama. His windy rhetoric somehow prevailed over Sen. Clinton's issues-oriented campaign. As history will record, he scooped up such huge majorities in Black communities that Sen. Clinton had no real chance to win enough delegates.

In the primaries, Blacks voting in lock-step for Obama was somehow an issue of pride. In contrast, white voters supporting Clinton apparently was a manifestation of racism. As Obama put it, the Clinton supporters were "bitter" people, "clinging" to their religion, guns, and racial prejudices. That "contrasted" with his supporters, whose heart were supposedly pure.

No wonder so many Hillary Supporters are sickened by the outcome. Senator Clinton has a political history of supporting causes favored by American Blacks. Her "reward" for that record has been to be characterized as a racist.

Hagee's McCain Endorsement: Utter Disaster

"Doesn't anybody out there know how to play this game?" (This is the Friday column, written partly in angry and partly in sorrow)

The Hagee endorsement is a disaster of moderate proportions. The resignation of five lobbyist staff members is also a disaster. I have raised questions about what kind of advice McCain is getting from his staffers, who include too many lobbyists and, apparently, too few people who are willing to give the Senator their own "straight talk."

I regard the Senator as one of the most honorable men ever to run for President. He is an authentic American hero, but there are mistakes being made in this campaign that are unnecessary. Having people on the staff who are lobbyists for the Burmese junta is almost suicidal.

The lobbyists must go, and that includes the talented campaign manager, Rick Davis. They are all lightning rods for the opposition. Surely there are enough non-lobbyists around to run a presidential campaign. The Senator needs to find them -- and quickly.

The Campaign staffers did John McCain no favors by recommending that he denounce the North Carolina GOP's anti-Obama ad. He admitted he never saw the commercial. And his staff-generated criticism of it fueled anger among some of the same conservatives he was trying (very unsuccessfully) to pick up with the ill-considered Hagee endorsement.

His staff should have warned him that Pastor Hagee was radioactive, and apparently they didn't. So, exactly what good are they?

Obama is going to beat the Senator about the head-and-shoulders on the issue of lobbyists. He is going to say that if John can't manage his staff how can he manage the country. And our reply is going to be . . . what?

As for Hagee, the media will portray him as John McCain's "Reverend Wright." Oops, there goes the Wright-issue as an albatross around Obama's neck. (This afternoon Obama did exactly that.)

The campaign blunders have to stop. And the staffers who are making them have to go.
There are people out there who could help McCain greatly. One of them is my friend from Oklahoma, Sharon Caliendo. One reason she's a friend is that she is one of the best political operatives in the country. Another is the brilliant 21-year-old who is primarily responsible for the national admiration for Gov. Sarah Palin. These people are dedicated to the election of John McCain, and they have no baggage.

I'm fairly certain the Senator has not heard of these people. But they've never been on "K Street," and if they make mistakes, they're small ones. The Senator needs some pillars of integrity on his staff.

The most important quality any staffer possesses is his or her ability to tell the unvarnished truth to the candidate. This is a very bad week for John McCain.

Additional Comments: I've had a lot of experience dealing with lobbyists, especially ones associated with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (now called "PhaRMa"), but also with lobbyists for Phillips Petroleum, Gulf Oil, and other companies. In general, I don't like lobbyists. They make a great deal of money, but gernally has too small a conscience. Lobbyists usually care a lot more about money than they do people.

Okay, two of McCain's staffers had to leave because they were representing the government (i.e., the junta) that controls Myanmar, formerly called Burma. Exactly what kind of people would lobby for a despicable government like the one in Burma, which is currently denying aid to people whose lives are slipping away.

Really, are they people a man like John McCain would really want on his campaign staff? Are they people he could trust? Would they sell him out if a better offer came their way?
I can't imagine what John McCain and his campaign manager had in mind.

OBAMA: More White People Needed

"Get me more white people!" -- Said by an Obama campaign coordinator looking for Caucasians to put behind Michelle Obama at a rally at Carnegie Mellon Univeristy (CMU) in Pittsburgh (as reported by CNN).

"America in 2008 is a mean country." (Michelle Obama, a Princeton and Harvard Law graduate who makes $300,000-plus annually working in "community outreach" at a Chicago hospital)

"A typical white person." (Obama in Dreams From My Father talking about his white grandmother)

Note: Tomorrow (Friday) I'll have a column (mildly) critical of John McCain for asking North Carolina Republicans to withdraw a commercial critical of the Obama/Wright connection and the pro-Obama Democratic gubernatorial candidates in NC. I know John McCain is a thoroughly decent and honorable man, but sometimes I wonder if he fully grasps the kind of opposition he's up against. Also, I don't believe he's in position to tell a state party how to conduct its campaigns -- any more than they are to give him instructions. I hope you'll visit.

Here's what a friend said about my forthcoming criticism of John McCain: "I'll be very interested to read it. I personally think that mild (or at times heavy) criticism of McCain is a good thing. Leaders should be open to advice from supporters, and supporters who view their candidate as perfect (see: Obamamania) are kidding themselves, proving a lack of intellectual compotence, and doing a disservice to their candidate by not offering advice. in short, supporters who are able to criticize their leader are far more useful and productive than those who are not."
