Mike Castle, one of the most corrupt people in the US Congress, has raised nearly $4 million. No one who believes in American traditions and values would contribute a nickel to Mike Castle. He thinks that he can bury Christine O'Donnell in an avalanche of ill-gotten money -- money he has received for providing political (and economic) favors (see opensecrets.org). Obama has the labor unions throughout the country. Castle has the corporate lawyers in Delaware. I’d like to introduce you to one firm in particular who stands to benefit greatly from NOT ONLY the Corporate Bailouts, but also the Environmental Regulations Internationally that will come from Cap & Trade! Young, Conaway, Stargatt and Taylor is a firm of about 120 lawyers headquartered in Wilmington, DE. They occupy the 17th floor of the 18 story historic Brandywine Building (pictured below) in Wilmington, DE. As you will see, the number one contributor, amounting to 10% of his campaign contributions, is the law firm of Young, Conaway. This is a law firm that deals primarily with bankruptcy and corporate restructuring. They contributed $146,915.

You will also see that Mr. Castle’s next two largest contributors were Bank of America at number two with $27,950 and coming in at #3 was Morgan Stanley with a paltry $14,850.

Now those last two sound very familiar [as recipients of bank bailout money] and may explain Mr. Castle’s yes vote on the TARP legislation. Of course this is exactly the type of voting you would expect from someone whose supporters describe him as a fiscal conservative, right?

Oh and by the way , for those who don’t know it, Mr. Castle sits on the House Financial Services Committee, you know the one that oversees and regulates banks and the financial sector. But of course I’m sure that Mr. Castle’s supporters will see absolutely no conflict of interest there.

In the eyes of Mr. Castle’s supporters, this is exactly the kind of experience that we need to send back to Washington in the Senate, to continue the good work that he has been doing in the House for oh so many years. While those who feel as I do , believe that this is exactly why he must be defeated.

And one last note to those of you out there still clinging to the idea that Mr. Castle is any kind of conservative. In 2009 while serving on the House Financial Services Committee . In a Vote of 39-29 on legislation to create yet another government bureaucracy that would be known as , The Consumer Financial Protection Agency, Mike Castle was the only, as in no other, as in single Republican vote, to vote with, that’s right you guessed it, he voted with the Democrats against all of his so-called fellow Republicans in favor of growing government once again.

Conservatives: Wake Up, Listen Up!

The Tim Burns loss in PA, a bad loss, shows we're NOT going to win just by showing up. I wish my fellow conservatives were not ideological purists to the point that NO candidate is acceptable. I wish my fellow conservatives would donate more money, a lot more, to truly conservative candidates (like Christine O'Donnell at http://christine2010.com/). I wish my fellow conservatives would spend less time expressing their "opinions" and more time writing checks, going door-to-door and making phone calls.

On Facebook these days, some "libertarians" and "conservatives" (who may be neither) are busily denouncing Scott Brown and Sarah Palin. The absurd basis for the denunciations is that "half-a-loaf is worse than no loaf at all." In other words, candidates who don't agree with us 100% of the time are beneath contempt. The nonsensical point is that Scott Brown is no better than his predecessor Teddy Kennedy, which is ridiculous. Brown is a major step forward for Massachusetts and the country.

I hear some people saying, "We need to throw all incumbents out, Republicans and Democrats." Gee, who are we supposed to vote for, since the only people seriously contending are Republicans . . . and Democrats? Some incumbents, Paul Ryan, Michele Bachman, Tom Coburn, Mike Pence, and others, are patriots and excellent legislators. Are we really supposed to vote them out? If so, why?

Yes, Scott Brown certainly is not perfect, and the same is true of Sarah Palin. But they are much better than the alternatives. Conservatives who don't recognize those simple realities are very suspect. They will be little or no help in the elections.

Evan in Delaware recently blogged at http://bluehenconservative.blogspot.com about the pack of lies liberal Rep. Mike Castle had on his web site. Right after the blog posts appeared, Castle immediately changed his web site. The whoppers he had up went down what George Orwell (of 1984 fame) called "the memory hole." I had also reprinted Evan's piece on my own blog (see below). Here are the comments Evan sent to his fellow Delaware bloggers:

Congressman Mike Castle, a frail desperate career politician is waging a smear campaign -- one full of lies and innuendos -- against Christine O'Donnell, a fine young woman who has the temerity to challenge Castle for the Delaware US Senate seat. Castle is now running around Delaware pretending to be a fiscally responsible "conservative." This is a little like Madonna claiming to be a virgin. Castle is disgusting. He is an even uglier version of Arlen Specter.

Mike Castle - Fiscal Responsibility Fact Check

On his website Mike Castle claims to be Fiscally Responsible. I decided to do some Fact checking. I thought, maybe I'm WRONG about Congressman Castle. Maybe he IS a budget hawk. This is what I found:

FACT - Castle voted for TARP (the $700 Billion bailout of the financial industry) in 2008

FACT - In 2008 the American Conservative Union and Club for Growth (Fiscal conservatism) rated Mike Castle at 28% and 26% respectively.

FACT - Castle voted FOR the Auto-bailout that resulted in GM being owned by the unions and taxpayers

FACT - American for Fair Taxation rated Mike Castle as a -1 against the FairTax measure

FACT - Castle Voted FOR permanently raising taxes on businesses

FACT - In 2008 the National Tax Payers Union gave Congressman Castle a D rating

FACT - AGAINST making the Bush tax cuts permanent, capping discretionary spending
at $973 billion and imposing a moratorium on earmarks

FACT - Congressman Castle supported the interests of the National Small Business Association 60 percent of the time from 2007-2008

FACT - Castle voted FOR the Obama Omnibus spending bill that increased spending 8% on TOP of the Stimulus packages

Castle's website states:

Economic Stimulus - Mike Castle has supported the federal initiative to return millions of taxpayer dollars back to individuals and families, spur business investment, and expand refinance options for homeowners.

The $787 Billion stimulus package (which is projected to cost $3.27 Trillion) has resulted in $514, 012, 482.38 in Delaware dollars or put another way 6 one hundredths of one percent of the total stimulus package (assuming $787 Billion is correct).

The Stimulus package has resulted in 1,174 jobs gained; however, by December of 2009 Delaware had lost 11,400 jobs which resulted in a net loss of 10,226 jobs. Home foreclosure filings are still averaging 13 per day.

The website also states:

Financial Services Committee: Mike Castle serves on the House Committee on
Financial Services, which has jurisdiction over banking and the securities and
insurance industries. In this capacity, he has worked to ensure the viability of
low income housing programs and has introduced legislation to shield consumers
from identity theft.

This committee failed to stop Fannie and Freddie from bringing down the entire national housing system, failed to properly regulate and evaluate the banking industry and is largely responsible for the financial services bailouts (which Castle voted for).

Finally, Castle's website states:

Budget Reform: One of the reasons Mike Castle first ran for the United States
Congress was to bring to the federal government the same principles of fiscal
responsibility that he practiced as Governor of Delaware. Castle has fought for
solid budget reforms in Washington, including a presidential line item veto,
rainy day accounts, pay as you go for both tax cuts and spending, and a
no-excuses balanced budget process.

Despite this statement, Mike Castle has voted against PAYGO (pay-as-you-go) amendments. The most recent of which was on February 14th 2010. He has a 2008 rating of 26% from the Club for Growth and has voted AGAINST making the Bush tax cuts permanent, capping discretionary spending and imposing a moratorium on earmarks 3 times since 2005.

He's also voted FOR Cap and Trade, the auto bailouts, cash for clunkers, the 2008 stimulus package, the Omnibus spending bill (increased federal spending 8% ABOVE stimulus package) and believes that Social Security works relatively well despite the fact that it owes more than $14 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities and is the second largest budget item in federal spending (2nd only to Medicare/Medicaid which he has also praised).

Congressman Castle is CLEARLY not fiscally responsible with the people's money. He has time and again voted in ways that go against what is "fiscally responsible". His votes tend to contradict his campaign promises in the area of fiscal responsibility.

Burns, Specter Looking Like Losers

I hope to goodness I'm wrong, but in tomorrow's special election, Tim Burns in the PA 12th CD is looking like a loser. Of less interest to me -- but a source of pleasure -- Arlen Specter is an almost certain loser.

If (key word), I'm right about Burns, this is a race he could have -- should have -- won. As for Specter, former Democrat turned Republican turned Democrat, he's been an embarrassment for a long time, and he will have gotten his defeat the old-fashioned way -- i.e., he earned it. At age 79, Arlen has the charisma of a salamander, coupled with a Godzilla-sized ego.

Whoever ran the Burns campaign should seek another field of "expertise." Poorly run Republican campaigns (remember Jim Tedisco in a New York special election?) are becoming almost a fact of life. The Democrats ceaselessly attack -- and the Republicans respond with hurt feelings and lame commercials. A candidate who becomes a punching bag for Democrats is not a happy sight.

Tim Burns should have won in a walk. He was ahead in the polls (but not by much) several weeks ago. I hear that the polls (I hate the things) have gone South for Burns -- and no wonder. This is supposed to be a Republican year, right?

Burns's opponent is a guy, Mark Critz, I'd never heard of until recently. As Jim Geraghty pointed out in a National Review article, Critz was John Murtha's bagman. He was the guy who worked out the earmarks deals, figuring out who would get the tax-dollar handouts -- and how much Murtha would get in campaign "donations." In short, Critz is a petty crook. In speeches and in (endless, expensive) ads Burns started out with happy talk -- "hey, I'm a hockey dad -- get it?" Meanwhile, Critz, led by the Democratic Campaign Congressional Committee (DCCC), was hitting Burns both in the jaw and the solar plexus. He branded Burns as a millionaire (not a good thing in PA, or most places), a job outsourceer, and "not one of US." In western PA, if you're not one of us, you're not going to win elections. John Murtha, even when he was calling us "rednecks" and "racists," remained -- somehow -- "one of us."

Thus, Burns, born in Johnstown and pretty much a lifetime resident of the district, came across as the (dreaded) . . . outsider. Critz, a Washington insider, is about as much a part of the district as Mt. Rushmore, but he -- in commercials -- became "the hometown boy." Critz talked with emotion about how he, through Murtha's earmarks, had "created thousands of jobs." He forgot to mention that the 12th is a place of chronic unemployment, rapid population loss, and low per-capita income. Tim Burns forgot to mention that either.

It's a mess. Tim Burns is a good guy. But he's rich (less rich now, after having spent one of his millions on this campaign), and rich people sometimes have a false sense of invulnerability. For all the money he and the national Republican entities spent, this was a campaign that almost always gave off the scent of a loser. Tim listened to the experts, and they gave him a steady stream of bad advice.

I'm in western Pennsylvania, and I got to see the train wreck happen. I'm not saying everything Burns did was wrong, but he always seemed at least a step behind the opposition. In politics, being a step behind means the other guy wins the race. A campaign needs A PLAN TO WIN. If Tim's did, it was undetectible by ordinary mortals.

Admittedly, Critz is a good liar. He proclaimed that he was "pro-life" and "would have voted against the health care bill" (that Murtha voted for). He was "against the Medicare cuts" in the health bill. These comments were all incredible, but he said them with a straight face. Pelosi, whom Critz will worship as he once did "Mr. Murtha," will tell Critz what to do, and he'll salute and stand at attention.

Let me say it: if I'd managed this campaign, maybe we still would have lost, but we would never have allowed ourselves to be beaten senseless day-after-day, week-after-week. We would have turned Mark Critz into a four-letter word that also begins with "cr" and ends with "p." Everybody in the district would have gotten a free copy of the Geraghty article.

As for Arlen Specter, I have only four words: goodbye and good riddance. Sestak will be the favorite in the race against Republican Pat Toomey. "Republican year?" Hmmm.

But this sentiment is equally applicable to those who would give up economic liberty to obtain economic safety. The economic attitude of the nation has shifted. We are no longer a nation of self-sufficient, rugged individualists; we are now a nation of addicts, hooked on a politician's promises of economic safety."

In general, I agree with the article's thesis on our addiction to Big Government. I say that with sadness, Nancy.

One solution to our spending problems would be to put a cap on Social Security, perhaps for at least five years. I am on Soc. Sec. and so is my wife. It would hurt us, but not kill us. Any politician who recommended such a thing would probably be defeated.

On Medicare, my wife has been disabled since 1991 and has been on Medicare since 1994. In all but two of those years, she has "paid" more into Medicare than she's taken out. She's taken great care to make sure she's not raiding Medicare. But she's the exception. There are zero incentives to encourage people to take good care of themselves (as my wife does). She does so because she's responsible and, to the degree possible, self-reliant.

I've been on Medicare for several years now, and I have NEVER spent more in a year than I've paid in premiums. We need a national commitment from people not to overuse Medicare. But that won't happen if most Americans remain clueless about the economic dynamics of the nation.

I believe we MIGHT be approaching a revolutionary situation. So many people want, want, and want, but the "government" (taxpayers) are running out of money to pay, pay, pay for those wants. A demagogue like Obama is making promises it will be financially impossible for the nation to meet.

Nancy, one reason I support Christine O'Donnell so strongly -- and hope you will also -- is that she tells the truth, as I'm trying to do in this piece. Maybe there's little room nowadays for truth-tellers, but I'm more optimistic than I was in 2006 and 2008 that there MAY be a market for truth-tellers.

Christine's point is that the government has been "stealing" (and using) the payments Americans have made into Social Security. And she's absolutely right. The feds have been stealing the money and using the money to make people more dependent. It's shameful. Obscene.

Will people, activists of modest means, contribute enough to ensure that Christine O'Donnell wins? I sure hope so. "Attagirls" for Christine will not be enough. If we don't provide financial support to people like Christine, we're just kidding ourselves.

Somebody told me this week that he can't contribute to Christine because he's "saving every cent for [his] family." He's living in fantasyland. All the money he's saving will be taken (literally or through inflation) by Obama and friends. It will be "redistributed" to those who didn't save a nickel.

The TeaParty and 912 movements are a sign of hope. But even they may not have grasped (Glenn Beck does) how dire our situation is. This may be the first time in history that we've experienced both deflation and inflation. It's like somehow getting fat and thin at the same time.

Delawareans Must Reject Mike Castle

Christine O’Donnell gives the voters of Delaware a choice, which is always a good thing (essential) in a constitutional republic (representative democracy). In my own humble opinion, no Republican can vote in good conscience for Mike Castle.

He voted for all the measures that have led this country to the brink of ruin. Did he ever warn us during his decades in office about the looming financial crisis? Of course not. He was busy accumulating millions in contributions from companies that later benefited from the bank bailout; he has voted for cap-and-trade, which would of course turn companies like DuPont into something resembling convenience stores. He voted for Obama's bloated "Omnibus" Spending Bill . . . and then grumbled something spending beyond our means. "Hypocisy and mendacity," as Big Daddy said in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."

Also, Castle has voted for every possible form of abortion, except perhaps the kind involving coat-hangers. Christine is against such things; she doesn’t believe they’re compatible with America’s core values. She’s right.

Will Mike debate her? Will the cow jump over the moon? We’ve had enough career politicians, enough creatures of the establishment, enough liberals like Castle masquerading as Republicans.

People who care deepy about our country will vote for Christine O’Donnell. The American people are waking up, and there’s no reason to believe Delawareans will be the only ones who remain sleeping.

In late December, 2009, I got the following e-mail from a person in the Scott Brown Campaign -- Scott Brown then being a relative unknown from the Dark Blue state of Massachusetts:

"I am the policy advisor on the Scott Brown campaign. I have been getting your emails since Sarah was announced as the VP. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. Also how many people do generally send this email out to? We have seen an enormous surge of interest in our website."

I was delighted to receive that message from "RK," but she was giving me more credit than I deserved. The people who won the election for Scott Brown were you, the bloggers, online communicators, and activists who made people aware that Scott Brown (1) existed; (2) could win.

Christine O'Donnell, conservative Republican candidate for the US Senate in Delaware, is in the much the same position as Scott Brown was last December, an intriguing candidate facing what "seems" (key word) to be an uphill battle in Delaware.

Fact: Running an "impossible dream" campaign against Joe Biden (who was on the ballot for Senate and VP), Christine got 140,509 votes in tiny Delaware. That was 35,000 votes more than ANY Republican had received against Biden in his six previous victories.

Now, running against the most liberal Republican in Congress -- against the next-Arlen-Specter-in-waiting -- Christine needs only a TINY fraction of the votes she got in 2008 . . . to win. For very complex reasons, the Democrats are nominating an incredibly weak candidate.

Right now, there are four people working full-time on the campaign (including Christine and including me) and many more working every spare hour. We can not only smell victory, we can taste it. We have MANY people who played key parts in ensuring victory for Scott Brown.

What can you do for Christine, an intensely conservative, extremely likable, deeply principled woman? If you do the same kinds of things you did for Scott Brown -- get the conservative universe to commit to her campaign -- she will win. We will have accomplshed a "Delawre Miracle" on top of a "Massachusetts Miracle."

In the Book of Common Prayer, there's a line (and this is from memory) about a "love that demands not less than everything" -- speaking about Christ's love for humanity. We are under no illusions. Winning what Democrats wistfully call "the Biden seat" will demand that many people, especially Christine, give not less than everything. We're prepared to make that effort; we are making it. We believe that much in Christine and the kind of leadership she can bring to our country.

Will bloggers and others embrace Christine, write about her, and support her with their time and money? Those are always the questions in an insurgency candidacies; I've been involved in many, but this one -- and this candidate -- are special. Christine will get some big endorsements from men and women who are household names, but the endorsements -- and actions -- of people like you are the crucial ones.

You're the ones who will contact friends and allies; you're the ones who will make the phone calls; you're the ones who will knock on the doors in Wilmington, Dover, Georgetown and other Delaware locales. One women receiving this e-mail -- Sharin -- has pledged to come from California to campaign for Christine. She's also contributed, as I hope many of you will to Christine.

You're the ones who will make the early contributions that are absolutely essential to any winning campaign. There are people receiving this letter (and one writing it) who are basically out of money; they spent it all on conservative candidates; and on going to places like Massachusetts (for Scott Brown) and to western Pennsylvania (for Tim Burns) and Hawaii (for Charles Djou). Yes, people receiving this e-mail actually went to Hawaii and helped energize Tea Party and 9/12 groups to ensure Djou's victory in a key congressional race.

Christine's Republican opponent in Delaware has received contributions from 390 PACs. In my humble personal assessment, the PACs aren't throwing money at liberal Mike Castle for "good government." As for Christine, she is not the darling of Goldman Sachs or the $400,000 per annum lobbyists.

But I hope she's the darling of people dedicated, as she is, to taking back America. That's why I'm asking you to do two things:

Two, invest in America's future by making a contribution to Christine's campaign. I assure you that your $10, or $20, or -- if you're flush this week -- your $100. I assure you the money will be spent wisely and well.

Mike Castle: Next Arlen Specter

In my opinion, the most likely Republican to be the next Arlen Specter -- who once pretended to be a Republican -- is Delaware's Rep. Mike Castle. Like Specter, Castle is one of Barack Husein Obama's most reliable votes in Congress. In one statement, Specter says he became a Democrat "to be re-elected!" If anything is more important to Castle than being re-elected, he's neglected to tell us what it is. (Below: Why the long faces Mike and Arlen?)

Is it really really possible that Castle would "pull an Arlen Specter?" Only if it was necessary, to paraphrase the morose Specter, for the Delawarean "to be re-elected."

Like Specter, Castle has always liked Democrat presidents -- and Democrat legislators -- more than the Republican variety. Consider the following quotes from Michael Barone's The Almanac of American Presidents regarding Castle's record:

"He was one of 10 Republicans to support the Clinton Administration positions on most issues, forging compromises [i.e., weakening conservatives] on gun control [which he favors], taxes, and education."

"In early 2007, after the GOP had lost its majority, he was one of three Republicans who voted for all six bills in the Democrats' 'first-100-hours' agenda."

"In 2005, when the conservative Republican leadership pressed for a budget with spending cuts, Castle and the Main Street Group [liberal Republicans] resisted, demanding the removal of a provision allowing oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge."

And on and on and on . . .

Like Specter, Castle fell all over himself to vote for the bank bailout and for "cap-and-tax." Both men are big backers of almost every conceivable form of abortion and federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.

Is Castle likely to be the next Arlen Specter? In fact, he already is. He's done everything to prove he's a Democrat other than change his registration.

Should any Republican in his right mind vote for Mike Castle over conservative Christian Christine O'Donnell? I'll let you answer that.

That can be tough in a world -- the world of politics -- where so many people are frankly unlovable.

Okay, don't you feel better?

Christine is running for a US Senate in a state where women just don't do such a thing. She's running in a state where monied, male interests have always held power . . . people like Caleb Boggs (former US Senator), William Roth (former US Senator) Joe Biden, Pete duPont, Thomas Carper (US Senator and former Governor), and Rep. Mike Castle, who's been in political office nearly as long as Senator Robert Byrd. Sen. Byrd isn't from Delaware, but with his longevity in office he'd feel right at home in "the First State," as Delaware (rightly) calls itself.

In Delaware, it sometime seems as if you have to be a Governor before you can be a US Senator and before you can be a US Representative. It seems that way, because it's almost always true. People go to the polls to vote in Delaware, but actually the choices have all been made for them. Voting is a sham . . . and that's a shame.

The smears sometimes launched at Christine have this theme: "How can you run for high office? You're a girl . . . and you're neither rich nor from a famous family. You struggled to pay your student loans." It's almost as if some of her political opponents -- and their media minions -- wonder why Christine has strayed out of the kitchen. She can in fact "stand the heat," but she won't stay in that comfortable kitchen, much as she loves to cook. Hey, she's half-Italian (like my own wife).

Christine will be a wonderful US Senator. The Senate could use a real American, someone who does in fact "feel our pain," because she's experienced it herself. She needs your support. Dear Friends: Thanks so much for your participation in last night's amazing conference call "starring" Christine O'Donnell, candidate for the US Senate seat from Delaware. We'd like to have another conference call next week to continue discussing concrete steps -- actions -- that will enable us to take back America. Christine's race is now "below the radar," especially for the Lamestream Media -- always the last to know what's happening in our country.

Bloggers (and other online communicators) are going to play a critical role in this race, just as they did with Scott Brown -- and are doing with Marco Rubio in FL and with Sue Lowden and Sharron Angle in NV and Pat Toomey in PA. Bloggers have let the world know such candidates exist and CAN WIN. The "Massachusetts Miracle" was the product of Internet "buzz" that ended up sounding like a billion busy bees. So, buzz away.

Early in the game -- and the Delaware Primary is four-plus months away -- money is crucial. Don't get me wrong: to win, the O'Donnell Campaign only needs to spend perhaps one-tenth as much as Mike Castle. That's because, with a fired-up campaign (and volunteer staff), hard work can trump hard cash. The battle now is for Christine to get just enough money . . . to win. Even small contributions help a lot.

Bloggers can assist by reminding people to go to Christine's web site, sign up for updates, and contribute what they can. If we, all of us, ask people to help Christine win this race, many of them will. We -- again, all of us -- are trying to reach a cascade effect, as with the Scott Brown campaign, where -- all of a sudden -- tens of thousands of activists are deeply engaged in "Team Christine."

To that end, bloggers can make the world aware who Christine is . . . and who her Primary opponent is. Republican dinner last night

Just thought I would share with you a little bit of what we heard at last night's Republican dinner here in Crawford County Ohio. John Kasich (running for Gov. of Ohio ) was the keynote speaker. Also present were many politicians, most notably, Bob Latta, our U.S. Congressman.

Mike and I walked up to Bob and thanked him for his conservative voting record and voiced our concern about what is going on in Washington. He made some funny botox remarks about Pelosi and then agreed with us that we have every reason to be concerned. As there were others waiting to talk to him, our time was brief. Although what took place later that evening should make chills run up and down everyone's spine to hear.

He had asked to speak a few words at the end of the night and went up on stage. He proceeded to tell the crowd how bad things really are in Washington . He said he only had a few minutes to speak, but if he could tell us even half of what the agenda is and what this administration plans to do to our country we couldn't sleep at night. He said he only gets about 4- 4 1/2 hours of sleep a night and worries constantly about what they want to do to this country. He said that Pelosi, Reid and Obama have to be stopped.

He said, "You know, you always hear this is the most important election blah blah blah, but I am telling you people...whatever you have to do to wake people up you need to do! We have got to vote them out in 2010 or with the things they have planned for this country we won't even be a country by 2020! Ten years. You could see the look of almost desperation on his face.

He talked about the huge debt. He talked about how the CBO gets their "figures". He sits on the finance committee of some sort and listens to the ramblings of Geitner and Bernanke.

He said "If you think that the Chinese won't hold this over us with all our debt you have another think coming. Our children will have nothing. I don't care if you have to go out door to door, tell at least 10 people who will then tell 10 people. We have to do this. This is the single most important election ever in the history of this country. The change that Obama promised us is NOT the change people thought he meant." Chilling.

The following piece appeared in RedState.Com on March 10, 2010, the day Christine O'Donnell announced her candidacy for the Delaware US Senate seat.

Today [March 10], Christine O’Donnell announced that she would run for Joe Biden’s vacant seat in Delaware. O’Donnell made a brave run in 2008 against Joe Biden, likely knowing full well she could never win in the political environment that existed in 2008, but went for it anyway.

But that was 2008, this is 2010. The Dems are choking on their own vomit with this socialistic healthcare bill, and we need to Kick them while they are down. There is very little doubt in my mind that DE will go red in the Senate due to the fact that the lamester liberals are running a candidate who has never run at the state level and not someone who could make it competitive like Beau Biden. So here is my proposition:

RUN A REAL CONSERVATIVE

Sure, we have Mike Castle who has been a career politician for literally more than half his life (45 years, he is 70), who is with us on some things, but against us on important things, here is a small list:

Supported Omnibus Appropriations (HR1105, 2/25/2009)
Supported Mortgage Loan Modifications (HR1106, 3/5/2009)
Voted Against Balancing the Budget in 10 Years (HRes 85, 4/2/2009)

Supported Parental Leave for Federal Employees (HR626, 6/4/2009)
Supported Cash for Clunkers (HR2751, 6/9/2009)
Supported funding for Legal Services Corporation (HR2847, 6/18/2009)
Voted Against Missle Defense (HR2647, 6/25/2009)
Supported Cap & Trade (HR2454, 6/26/2009)
Supported funding for Planned Parenthood (HR3293, 6/24/2009)

This is simply inexcusable to me, and this is one of the reasons why we need O’Donnell as our GOP nominee.

It’s time for a fresh face who will be with us 100% of the time as opposed to an old face who will be with use 80% of the time, and stab us in the back on close votes like what Specter, Snowe, Collins, and Brown have done in the past. It is disturbing to me that an organization as inept as the Democratic party is able to field candidates against incumbents because they feel they aren’t representing their best intrests.

I feel that us as conservatives are just willing to play it “safe” to win an election, and then everyone is surprised why we have RINOs running the senate. When was the last time a conservative primaried an incumbent? Toomey and Rubio. Look at them now, they are both poised to win seats in bluish/purple states.

It’s time to get real and time to support candidates that will fight for us, and that we can be proud of. This doesn’t just pertain to Delaware, but also in Arizona, New Hampshire, California, and wherever there is a conservative willing to put their neck on the line for our movement.

Americans are tired of Obama’s ideas, but people won’t vote for us unless they are able to differentiate on a policy level, not just a party level.

As primaries move closer, I will be examining specific races around the country where the Establishment choice is not essentially the best choice for us Real Conservatives.

The biggest argument against current U.S. Rep and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Castle (R-DE) is that he is part of the establishment. Congressman Mike Castle has been on the government dole since 1967. Here is a breakdown of his elective office career:

Delaware State Representative (1967-1969)
Delaware State Senate (1969-1977)
Lt. Governor (Delaware) (1981-1985)
Governor (Delaware) (1985-1992)
U.S. Represntative (R-DE) (1993-Present)

So basically, with the exception of a four year break during the Carter Administration, Mike Castle has been on the government dole for over 42 years. Isn’t he part of the problem? More importantly, Congressman Castle is really an Arlen Specter Democrat! Here are some of his highlights:

FISCAL/ECONOMIC

In 2008, the American Conservative Union gave Mike Castle a 28% rating.
In 2008, Congressman Castle supported the interests (fiscal conservatism) of Club For Growth 26% of the time.
Americans for Fair Taxation considered how each congressional representative stood on the FairTax, illustrated with +3 as a sponsorship, +2 as a co-sponsorship, +1 as support, 0 as does not support, and -1 as against. In 2008, the actions of Representative Castle is represented by -1.
In 2008 National Taxpayers Union gave Representative Castle a rating of D.
In 2007 Americans for Tax Reform gave Representative Castle a grade of 58.

Mike Castle: Contemptible Career Politician

Note: Mike Castle has been in what they laughingly call "public service" since 1966. He held a "real job" (such as it was) for just about one year, as a novice lawyer. He's never run a competitive race; this year will be his first, and his campaign strategy is to spread rumors and lies about his Republican opponent, Christine O'Donnell. He refuses to debate the issues with Christine. Why? Because his stands on key issues, including cap-and-trade, repeal of ObamaCare, and the bailouts, are indefensible.

What's also indefensible is his use of surrogates, including one at the local paper, to go around spreading half-truths and outright lies about Christine O'Donnell. Christine is a thoroughly good woman. Castle, the classic rich boy who wants his "toy" (his federal office) may be a good something, but he's not a good man. And media people who do his bidding -- after all, he's a very important blowhard -- are beneath contempt. Does he offer 30 pieces of silver? Or is it all paper money?

Mike Castle's fundraising is a disgrace. He's collecting huge sums of money from companies and industries he's supposed to monitor and oversee. Where are the media stories about the companies that are funneling money to Castle for "services rendered." Mike Castle has never had a real job in his life, but he gets all sort of deference from media figures who are supposed to ask him hard questions. It stinks.

His campaign slogans might be: "Vote for me, I'm a career politician"; or, "Vote for me, I'm a charter member of the decaying GOP Establishment"; or "Vote for me; I've sold out to every special interest group imaginable." Castle's view seems to be that what the US Senate truly needs is one more reliable liberal -- i.e., him. No wonder, removerinos.com has Castle listed as the most offensive RINO in Congress. Delaware deserves better. Christine O'Donnell IS better.

There's one blogger out there, Frank Knotts of Delaware, who has turned up the rocks around Castle's fundraising, and, as you see below, many creepy-crawlies have appeared. As Frank demonstrates, Castle is to political integrity as Hugh Hefner is to chastity. Frank shows how career politicians sell out to special interests in order to keep themselves in office forever. Mike Castle first got elected in 1966, several years before his Senate race opponent (and my friend) Christine O'Donnell was born.

What Frank Knotts describes below is not technically illegal, only unethical. Castle is receiving huge campaign contributions, mega-millions, from industries he's supposed to monitor and oversee. Now that we have learned that Christine O’Donnell intends to primary long time Washington insider Rep. Mike Castle (RINO-De) for the Senate seat, formerly held by even longer Washington insider Joe Biden(unfortunately currently our vice president), there have been questions raised of Ms. O’Donnell’s ability to run a campaign, let alone to make financial decisions on the national scale.

So, I believe since Mr. Castle’s supporters think it right to bring up past deeds of Ms. O’Donnell, then I would say that Mr. Castle should clean his closet as well.

Let us start by looking at the 2007-2008 election cycle shall we.

s you will see, the number one contributor, amounting to 10% of his campaign contributions is the law firm of Young, Conaway. This is a [Wilmington, DE] law firm that deals primarily with bankruptcy and corporate restructuring. They contributed $146,915. [Note they're also the biggest contributor this year, up near $30,000 already]

You will also see that Mr. Castle’s next two largest contributors were Bank of America at number two with $27,950 and coming in at #3 was Morgan Stanley with a paltry $14,850. [Note, both recipients of bailout money]

Now those last two sound very familiar and may explain Mr. Castle’s yes vote on the TARP legislation. Of course this is exactly the type of voting you would expect from someone whose supporters describe him as a fiscal conservative, right?

Oh and by the way , for those who don’t know it, Mr. Castle sits on the House Financial Services Committee, you know the one that oversees and regulates banks and the financial sector. But of course I’m sure that Mr. Castle’s supporters will see absolutely no conflict of interest there.

In the eyes of Mr. Castle’s supporters, this is exactly the kind of experience that we need to send back to Washington in the Senate, to continue the good work that he has been doing in the House for oh so many years. While those who feel as I do , believe that this is exactly why he must be defeated.

And one last note to those of you out there still clinging to the idea that Mr. Castle is any kind of conservative, in 2009 while serving on the House Financial Services Committee . In a Vote of 39-29 on legislation to create yet another government bureaucracy that would be known as The Consumer Financial Protection Agency, Mike Castle was the only, as in no other, as in single Republican vote, to vote with, that’s right you guessed it, he voted with the Democrats against all of his so-called fellow Republicans in favor of growing government once again.

So to all of you out there that are ready to condemn Christine O’Donnell for her mistakes, you may want to consider the fact that Mr. Castle’s actions were conscious decisions.

Today, Delaware Congressman Mike Castle voted in favor of H.R. 4506, the Bankruptcy Judgeships Act, legislation aimed at authorizing additional federal bankruptcy judgeships. Delaware, which currently has one permanent and five temporary judgeships, would now have six permanent positions

.“With the financial crisis and economic downturn resulting in an increase in the amount of both corporate and personal bankruptcies, Delaware’s bankruptcy courts have experienced rising caseload,” said Rep. Castle.

“With the temporary positions set to expire soon, this bill makes the five temporary slots permanent. In addition to reflecting the seriousness of the economic challenges that we face, the rising bankruptcy rates are reminders that this Congress and Administration must focus on economic growth with policies that expand innovation and protect, instead of spend, taxpayer dollars.”

In 2009, the United States saw 1.47 million bankruptcy filings, up 32 percent from the year before. Currently, there are 352 bankruptcy judges in the federal system, of which 36 are temporary positions. H.R. 4506 would make the five judgeships permanent in Delaware that were created through the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act and the Bankruptcy Judgeship Act.

The Bankruptcy Judgeships Act is based on recommendations of the U.S. Judicial Conference, a body of 30 federal judges, including the chief justice of the United States, which makes recommendations to Congress on the federal judiciary.”

I especially like the this part, “In addition to reflecting the seriousness of the economic challenges that we face, the rising bankruptcy rates are reminders that this Congress and Administration must focus on economic growth with policies that expand innovation and protect, instead of spend, taxpayer dollars.”

So what does he vote for ? Increasing the number of government employees on a permanent basis. And how does having more judges help to expand innovation? It is also a good thing that we will have more bankruptcy judges, since so many of the things that Mr. Castle votes for will lead to more bankruptcies.

It is also notable once again that Mr. Castle’s number one contributor to his campaign is the law firm of Young & Conaway, this is a law firm that deals primarily in corporate restructuring and, that’s right bankruptcies. But I am sure that having more judges and bankruptcies in the state of Delaware will not in any way benefit Young & Conaway and has nothing to do with the way that Mr. Castle voted.

Mark Critz: Following Murtha's Lead

Mark Critz -- Democrat candidate in PA's 12th CD -- was a willing servant of the most corrupt member of Congress, John Murtha. Of course, "Mr. Murtha," as Democrats describe that odious man, specialized in trading earmarks -- our money -- for huge campaign contributions. If Critz would do it any other way, he's neglected to say so. If he wasn't going to be a willing political tool for Pelosi, he wouldn't have relied on her (exclusively) to finance his campiagn.

"Mr." Murtha called his own constituents "racists" and "rednecks." Does Critz disagree? Apparently not. Murtha is falsely credited with "bringing home the bacon," but it's clear that he regarded his constituents much as his heroine Nancy Pelosi would: as know-nothing ne'er-do-wells. As Murtha served term after term, the 12th district sank deeper and deeper in poverty and hopelessness. The jobs Murtha created were a tiny fraction of the jobs he destroyed. But the millions he received from people he paid off with earmarks were always enough to keep him getting re-elected. John Murtha made out just fine; the 12th district continued its economic nosedive.

Murtha was also presented as a "conservative, pro-military Democrat." He was in fact a loyal Democrat, but he was neither conservative nor pro-military. He voted the liberal side twice as often as he did the conservative (check out the National Journal's liberal-conservative analysis). On the military side, he falsely described the brave Haditha Marines as "cold-blooded killers." If he really gave a hoot about the lives of American soldiers, he had an odd way of showing it.

On his bogus conservatism: Murtha voted against banning same-sex marriage (all the while presenting himself as a Roman Catholic); he voted against repealing the estate tax (known popularly as "the death tax"); he voted against extending the Patriot Act; and he voted against military tribunals for enemy combatants like Khalid Sheik Muhammed, architect of 9/11.

What's more, he voted against building the southern border fence to keep out illegal immigrants; he voted for early withdrawal -- actually, early surrender -- from Iraq. He voted for the Wall Street bailout. And he voted for expanding SCHIP -- the children's health program that took many young people off private insurance and put them on the public dole. And then Murtha capped off a disgraceful career by voting for ObamaCare.

Did the socially and fiscally conservative people of the 12th district know that "conservative" John Murtha was voting this way? Did they know Murtha was always there when Pelosi needed a vote for her far-Left initiatives?

Some people in the 12th did know. But many didn't. And, sadly, some didn't care. They'd bought the myth that Murtha was somehow providing economic benefits to the 12th. After 38 years of Murtha in Congress, the one amazing thing is that there are still people in the district. No business that refused to make political payoffs to Murtha and his bagman, Mark Critz, would even consider creating jobs in the 12th.

Would Mark Critz, Murtha's "deputy director" vote the same way as his old boss? There's no evidence that Critz wouldn't hew the Obama/Pelosi line. In fact, Critz would be one more Democrat disaster for western Pennsylvania.

If the 12th district is to have a future, it must not send another corrupt politician to the House. There is a much better choice: conservative Republican Tim Burns. All the lies the Beltway Democrat establishment tells about Burns can't hide one fact: he knows what's necessary to create jobs; Mark Critz doesn't have a clue.

Jim Geraghty in National Review has Mark Critz's number. If you scroll down, you're find another essay on the abominable Critz, running to succeed his old boss, John Murtha, one of the most corrupt men ever to hold federal office. The following three paragraphs are from Jim Geraghty's article:

"In some ways, Mark Critz is exactly the right man to continue the work of the late John Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who spent most of his last years in Congress surrounded by allegations that he traded earmarks for donations. Critz was Murtha’s district director, and he shares many habits with his old boss: malodorous deals, explanations to the public that don’t add up, conflicting political and public-office loyalties, and a cynical sensibility that “the appearance of impropriety” ceased being a worry a long time ago.

"The first questions about Critz’s honesty and propriety were raised by his work as a bookkeeper for a (now bankrupt) Johnstown firm, Parkins Concrete. According to the political blog PA2010, Critz testified that he worked part-time as the company’s bookkeeper and business manager from at least late 1997 until early 2000. During that time, the company racked up more than $13,000 worth of state tax violations and at least one federal tax lien of more than $127,000, according to public records. (One would expect the company’s bookkeeper to keep an eye on the payment of state and federal taxes, no?)

"Critz claimed he stopped working for the company before joining Murtha’s staff, but it appears the two jobs overlapped for a year. Bloggers for The Pennsylvania Progressive called him out on the contradiction; the Critz campaign’s response was to change the candidate’s LinkedIn page."

Mark Critiz: Murtha-Like Crook

Who's Mark Critz, besides being a Democrat candidate for the seat of his old boss, John Murtha, in Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District? One writer (John Morgan) says that, when it came to Murtha's corrupt earmark deals, Critz was his "bagman."

In fact, Critz was the guy who gave Murtha what's called "plausible deniability." Before Murtha handed out multi-million dollars "earmarks" (our tax money), Critz would work out the deal.
That way Murtha wouldn't get arrested, as he should have been.

Specifically, Critz would tell the favored contractor exactly how much was expected in campaign contributions. Isn't that really a form of bribery? Well, yes, but it's the way Murtha did what he called "business." In Illinois, it's called "pay to play."

Now, somebody else is serving as Mark Critz's bagman. Critz been promoted. On television, he talks about how he was Murtha's "Director of Economic Development." (He was really a "depty director" of the Murtha Bribery Department, but what's a little exaggeration among friends?)

In the 12th District, one of Pennsylvania's true depressed areas, there's been no economic development that anyone would notice. In Michael Barone's The Almanac of American Politics, he notes that the population of Murtha's (and Critz's) hometown, Johnstown, has dropped somewhat.

Just before John Murtha was born, the city had 67,000 residents. By the mid-1990s, when Murtha had already been in Congress a long time, the population was 22,000. In this decade, the 12th's population has declined by 3% -- and it's not going to be heading upward any time soon. There's speculation the 12th might be redistricted; the real question is if it will dry up and blow away.

Economic development? No, economic disaster. The median income in the district is $37,000, the worst in the state outside Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. The poverty rate is 14.8%. In an adjoining district (the 18th), the poverty is half that level. The median home price in the 12th is under $85,000, 40% below the level in the rest of the state. How much credit for this mess does "economic development" guy Critz get? He gets some, and Murtha gets the rest.

The 12th district has the largest elderly population in the state. Young people have been leaving the area in droves for generations. The proportion of college graduates in the 12th is a little over 16%. In my own western Pennsylvania district (the 4th, west and south of the 12th), the percentage of college graduates is twice as high. Any college graduates who stay in the 12th district are probably satisfied to be working at McDonald's or Wal-Mart.

This is the kind of economic "development" that resulted from all those earmarks . . . and the tens of million in campaign contributions Murtha solicited (extorted). What kind of company in its right mind was going to start a business in a district dominated by a blowhard (Murtha, abetted by Critz) who was always standing there with his hand out? When it came to creating real jobs, Murtha was radioactive.

I can say these things, because they're true. A great conservative candidate like Republican Tim Burns probably can't say them -- even though they're true. Critz's idea of economic development is to set a hefty price for an earmark. Did he get a percentage of the take? Overall, the number of "jobs" created by sleazy political deals is near the economic equivalent of absolute zero.

In Critz's latest commercial, he's telling western Pennsylvanians he would have "voted against" ObamaCare? When do we stop laughing? Critz would have voted for the heath bill just as John Murtha did. Of course, Murtha was Pelosi's strongest ally in the House. And Pelosi just raised Critz a truck-load of cash. Trust me, Mark Critz will do what he's told.

Tim Burns would be a godsend to the 12th district. He's a businessman who has actually created jobs. Mark Critz is John Murtha -- without the political clout, the red face, and the potty-mouth. If the 12th has any hope, it will come in the form of Tim Burns. Critz? He's another word that begins with "c-r." More on Monday about Critz and criminality . . .

America Adopting Delaware's Christine O'Donnell

Christine O'Donnell below on Bill O'Reilly Show on FOX. She has appeared many times on FOX and will do so again between now and the general election in November.

My friend Christine O'Donnell is running for the US Senate seat in Delaware against the most liberal Republican in the House, Mike Castle. His goal now is to become the most liberal Republican in the Senate. [Note: See previous column below on Christine.]

Cap-and-trade? Mike Castle is for it. Repeal of Obama's health care monstrosity? Castle is against it. Huge Obama spending bills? Castle is for them. More money for the UN? Castle loves the idea. Bailouts for reckless banks? Castle thinks they're a capital idea.

In the words of Christine, "the last thing the Senate needs is one more liberal." She calls liberals "post-Americans." That doesn't mean they're anti-U.S. . . . just that they believe America is no big deal, just another nation in the alphabetical list that runs from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. She believes America is "exceptional." Castle clearly doesn't.

Christine may be the most unlikely candidate in a generation to run for the US Senate. She's not, unlike Castle, a millionaire. She doesn't live, unlike Castle, in a mansion. She lives in a townhouse.
She's not, unlike Castle, a career politician -- he was first elected in 1966, well before Christine was born. He's part of the "old Delaware" aristocracy, where she's the Irish-Italian offspring (one of six kids) from a blue-collar family. He's a member of the dwindling GOP establishment, where she's as antiestablishment as they come.

As I said in one of my recent pieces about her, she's a "love-thy-neighbor-period" type of Christian. She's a conservative who believes that capitalists (especially those on Wall Street) are sometimes their own worst enemies.

Can Christine really win in a Blue state like Delaware, one that reelected Joe Biden in an almost Pavlovian way? Let me ask another question: was there any possibility an unknown like Scott Brown could win in Deep-Blue Massachusetts?

In 2008, Christine ran a "sacrificial lamb" campaign against Joe Biden (also running for "his" Senate seat). He outspent her 42-to-1. But she ending up getting 140,500 votes, 35,000 more than any Republican candidate had garnered against Biden in his previous five races. The MSM ignored her, but the voters didn't.

Christine certainly can win if we part with some hard-earned cash necessary to get her message out. She can win if bloggers and online communicators let everyone know -- today -- that she deserves to win, just as you did with Scott Brown.

And she can win if people sacrifice their hard-earned vacation time to go to Delaware, as many of you did in Massachusetts. An army of volunteers can overcome her opponent Castle's Mt. Everest of cash. He has the special interest groups -- all of them. Christine has us, you and me.

Castle got his cash from special interests, including Wall Street banks and law firms who do their bidding. Christine will spend one-fifth as much money as Castle, but will do so five times more wisely.

I'm asking every activist in America to "adopt" this good woman. Her race will be the most-exciting -- and eventually the most-talked-about in the country. She is in every way the real deal.

I'm asking you to make sacrifices of time and money for Christine O'Donnell. That's the same thing as asking you to make sacrifices for the country she loves -- and we love.

Christine O'Donnell and God's Will

Aside from gender, Christine O'Donnell and Marco Rubio (pictured below) have much in common. They are both bright, principled young Christian conservatives. Neither of them is a darling of the tired old GOP "Establishment." And both of them have started as big underdogs in their respective states, Florida for Marco, Delaware for Christine, but they are looking more and more like winners in very big Senate races.

I met with Christine and her campaign manager, Matt, in the Pittsburgh area (actually, Cranberry Township, Butler County) earlier this week. I have talked perhaps 100 times each with Christine and Matt, and I was prepared to be impressed in a face-to-face with them. Frankly, I was overwhelmed by them. I expected a lot, and I got more than I could have imagined.

I'll be writing today and tomorrow about Christine, why I think so highly of her, and why I believe she can win -- and perhaps win big -- in a "Blue" state (Delaware) where few people (at least in the Republican Establishment) give her much of a chance.

When a woman in politics is beautiful -- and Christine's pictures do not do her justice -- she will always be underestimated. It's certainly that happened with Sarah Palin. The stereotype goes this way: "If a woman is extremely attractive, well, life must balance it out by making her shallow -- and even a little stupid, right?" I assure you there is nothing shallow or intellectually-deficient about Christine O'Donnell. She has the infinite curiosity that is the foundation of intelligence.

Revelations in a Chinese restaurant: Christine, Matt, and I spent about four hours in a superb Chinese restaurant partaking of the best buffet we'd ever encountered. We ate . . . and ate . . . and ate. And talked . . . and talked . . . and talked. The great people at the restaurant didn't charge us anything extra (and kept bringing us endless amounts of iced tea), even though we were there munching away from lunch time into the dinner hour. (The restaurant is in the back portion of the Cranberry Mall, north of Pittsburgh).

What did we talk about when we weren't consuming sushi and endless other delights? We didn't talk about politics! We talked about a book Christine is putting together. She handed me a hundred pages of notes and speeches she'd given . . . along with DVDs . . . and various books, especially one by "Karol Wojtyla," better known as Pope John Paul, II."

At one point, Christine looked me in the eye and said, "I'm a Catholic 'girl.'" She meant it not only as a fact, but as part of her continuing challenge to herself. She didn't have to tell me that Jesus Christ and her Church were constant presences in her life. It was obvious they were.

I didn't detect any element of "holier than thou." Christine was talking about an imperfect being, herself, who wants to be a better person. God wants her to be the very best Christine O'Donnell, a totally unique individual, that is possible in this vale of tears. She believes, like John Paul, II, that our individuality and uniqueness are printed on our hearts. How do we become better people? And how does that "betterness" manifest itself in our relationships with others? Love is easy to talk about -- but hard to give.

As I indicated earlier, this wasn't your usual discussion about how can we improve our "poll standing" with suburban women in Delaware. This was a young woman totally enthralled with the example Jesus Christ set 2,000 years ago. "How do we love our neighbors in a world where so many people seem . . . downright unlovable?" That may be the true riddle of the universe.

Yes, my friends, this was one of those life experiences that will not be forgotten. Matt and Christine are two ardent Roman Catholics who are trying the impossible: to make their own lives a witness to the fundamental truth of the Christian message of faith, hope, and charity. It was one of those moments, well, four hour's worth (including sushi) that one wishes would go on forever.

Will Christine win a tough Republican primary in September? Will she win a perhaps tougher general election on November 2? I think both Christine and Matt (joined by yours truly) would says, "If it's God's will, she will." As Dante said, "In God's will is our peace." The ultimate goal in life is not victory, which is temporary, but peace, which is eternal. You can learn a lot in Chinese restaurants.

And what about my many (many, many) Jewish friends, Pamela, Sharin, Ellen, Laura, Jeff, and others? To quote a much-loved nun/teacher of mine so many years ago, "God will take care of them!" On my Jewish friends and Baptist friends (Katherine Jenerette highlighted), let me paraphrase poet John Donne, "I expect to see them glorified." Without our friends, heaven would not be heaven.

My conservative friend Christine O'Donnell is not only a lot better looking (an understatement) than Cong. Mike Castle, she will make a much better U.S. Senator from Delaware. Now, take a look at the little girl below, wearing the National Debt sign.

I'm sure Mike Castle would agree with you that she's cute. But the main thing he might notice is that she's too young to vote . . . and thus irrelevant to his real concerns. If she's to be left with an unbearable burden of debt by legislators like Castle, well, what he'd say if he was being candid is: "Tough!" By the time the little girl starts confronting taxes that are out of this world, Cong. Castle will literally be out of this vale of tears. But she'll be the one crying.

Congressman Castle says Social Security works "works relatively well." In fact, Social Security, now operating in the red, is a looming monster.

Christine O'Donnell will tell you that because it's the truth. Mike Castle, a career politician who's been in "public service" for 44 years, is more likely to tell you that "all is well." But he might cross his fingers when he says it. What he truly means is, "I'll be long gone from Congress when Social Security (and Medicare) collapse."

Collapse? Really? Yes, Mike, really. The "unfunded liabilities" -- the promises we've made versus the money we have to keep them -- for Social Security and Medicare is a mere $100 trillion -- yes, trillion with a "T."

Want to see Castle head for the hills? Just ask him about that $100 trillion liability . . . and he'll be gone before you get to the "lie" syllable in liability.

Mike Castle is a RINO, a Republican-in-Name-Only. A RINO is someone who, when Democrats propose $802 billion in wasteful spending, will say, "Can't we compromise? Can't we get it down to $702 billion?" That's what RINOs mean when they brag about their fiscal discipline.

I have a solution. Send Christine to the U.S. Senate. And send Mike back to play with the grandchildren . . . before they find out the crushing burdens grandpa has bequeathed them.

Who's the "Sarah Palin of the East?" According to popular blogger Mark Levin Fan, it's Christine O'Donnell, conservative candidate for the U.S. Senate in Delaware. My friend Christine is a remarkable young woman, pro-life and pro-Constitution, and any state would be proud to have as its Senator.

US Senate: Conservative Christine O'Donnell

One of the biggest contests in American politics will be conservative Republican Christine O'Donnell against liberal Republican Mike Castle, "The King of the Rinos." Conservatives nationally should rally around Christine, who is poised to defeat Castle, one of the anvils around the neck of the Republican Party. [See article below}

Conservative superstar candidates, Christine O'Donnell and Marco Rubio

Christine O'Donnell, who ran for the US Senate against Joe Biden in 2008, is running again this year against ultimate RINO, career politician and mega-millionaire Michael Castle. What's not to like about Christine, a devout Catholic, a fiscal and social conservative, and a strikingly beautiful woman?

The Castle Campaign doesn't like Christine O'Donnell one bit. They wish Christine would go away, that she wouldn't stand in the way of Castle's election -- or, call it his "coronation." Sadly, a few segments of the local media have been carrying water for Castle and spreading gossip and inneundos about her.

Christine is not a rich woman by any means. She grew up in a poor family, one with six children. She said recently that one of the early lessons she learned in life was that it was "hard." Christine doesn't complain, doesn't ever try to play the role of the victim. But she would agree with the famous comment of another Irish-American political figure, John F. Kennedy, that "life is unfair."

Christine probably also would agree with the observation by Jason Chaffetz, the superb freshman congressman from Utah. He said, "You shouldn't have to be a millionaire to run for Congress." Chaffetz sleeps in his office, showers in the House gym, and eats in the cafeteria. Mormon Jason knows, as does Catholic Christine O'Donnell, that life isn't always a bed of flowers.
A story that's been making the rounds this week in Delaware is that -- one time -- Christine's debit card was rejected. In the minds of a few Delawareans -- and in the small mind of Mike Castle, who's almost certainly the source of the story -- that says something bad about Christine.
Barack Obama would sympathize with Christine. In 2000, at the Democrat National Convention, he tried to rent a car. He couldn't, because his credit card, maxxed out, was rejected.

Was that the last we ever saw of Obama? Obviously not. At the 2004 Democrat Convention, he gave the keynote address. In that year, he was elected to the US Senate (take heart, Christine), and in 2008 he was nominated for president. He doesn't have to worry about his credit card balances ever again.

Another story spread about Christine is that she was left over with campaign debt -- a piddling amount -- from her 2008 battle against Biden. In fact, any challenger for a federal office who doesn't have campaign debt obviously wasn't trying to win -- and anyone who knows Christine understands that winning was her only goal.

Campaign debt: Barack Obama raised a staggering amount, $700 mllion, but he had debt left over after he won the presidency. As for campaign debt, Hillary Clinton ended her bid for the presidency with a debt exceeding $22 million.

As late as mid-2009, Mrs. Clinton was still millions in debt. Of course, she and her husband have a net worth in excess of $100 million, so "debt" is perhaps a misnomer.

If Christine O'Donnell were as rich as her opponent -- Mike Castle -- she would never have another financial worry in her life. Castle's net worth (OpenSecrets.org) is as high as $7.8 milion. Even at that level, however, he's "only" the 55th wealthiest member of the House.
In the Senate, which he'd serve in if Christine weren't going to beat him, his $7.8 million would be chump change to people like Kerry, Herb Kohl, and Jay Rockefeller, to name a few.

Christine isn't a millionaire, and maybe never will be one (although I wouldn't bet against her). But as Cong. Chaffetz indicated, there's no constitutional requirement that a US Senator be rich. In fact, if we had a few more normal Americans -- like Christine -- in Congress perhaps they wouldn't spending so much of our money, while retaining all of their own.

In important ways, in fact, Christine is rich -- in the depth of her conservative political philosophy, in the quality of the lessons she's learned from life, and in the abundance of friends she has (of whom I'm proud to be one).

Conservatives around the nation should embrace the candidacy of this outstanding American woman. Christine O'Donnell will make a great US Senator from Delaware. Other states should be so lucky to have such a person running for high office. Let's make it happen!

So are we to understand his switch is about his "concern" about the legitimacy of this inept POTUS? Give me a break. This neophyte man posing as a so called leader RUINED all his legitimacy with all the LIES, DECEIT and pure THUGGERY he and his shyster campaign undertook during the Dem. Primary and wholeheartedly carried on into the General Election. Oh, and as for legitimate: Kucinich should talk with Alice Palmer regarding how loyal and trustworthy his new BFF is.

Mr. Soetoro-Obama has NO respect for women, NO respect for this country and really I don't think ANY respect for any ethnicity other than whatever the hell he is. And quite frankly, I really don't care what he is. All I know is this is one of the sorriest, piss-poor examples I've ever seen masquerading as a fully mature man.

I just want his term done and over. It's always about HIM. What happened to being a servant of the PEOPLE? Protector of this NATION? He could give a rat's ass about the future of the U.S.A. It's about him and his foul Presidency. I cannot be the only one who sees this. He doesn't put the welfare of our nation at all in the front of his mind. I never expected him to do so -- but I'm sure there were (and are) some gullible people out there who do and did. They need to wake up and wake up quickly. Following this fool will only lead to disappointment and more anger.

Once a fraud, always a fraud. Anyone from MI and FL alone who have Congressmen supporting this creep's agenda should be voted out. They didn't need their votes during the Dem. Primary so why the hell would anyone think their vote is needed in any future elections? Sorry Kucinich -- CAUCUS FRAUD long ago destroyed ANY credibility this feckless chump may have had. Which I believe he never, ever did in the first place.

As for Rep. Kucinich...
I see him as worse than a weasel. He prides himself on being a man of his word. What a liar. I already didn't agree with him on his so called beliefs. He's just another racist, low-life liar like the majority of the politicians in D.C.

I'm so ashamed I ever thought this man was someone I didn't agree with but at least stood by his word. How duped was I? How duped were others? Are Paul Ryan and Michelle Bachman the only decent members left in the House of Representatives? Unbelievable. Two people. Maybe six...the rest...Either they're bigoted, cheaters, beaters of women, battling addictions, immorally oriented, corrupt and who knows what else? I'm sorry for the rant but this is getting so out of control.

I still cannot believe Mrs. Pelosi -- along with most Dems -- are looking to "deem" a bill has passed in order to make it a law. Never mind only a "handful" have actually read the 2,000 plus page bill (and most of them are in the Republican Party -- where NO ONE is voting for this sham of bill). This is just crooked and wrong.

These creeps should be ashamed of themselves. They're so caught up in their fabricated bubble of importance -- until they are unable to see just how utterly disgusting their actions are -- as well as how destructive the end result of their gluttonous, wholly corrupt folly will most likely be for the U.S.

This is a direct slap in the face to all that is decent, honorable and good about the U.S. I'm glad our Founding Fathers aren't around to witness this freak show. I hate I'm around to witness it. Pelosi and her minions are definitely steering us all into a very deep financial pit of peril.

Mitt Romney's book has debuted at #1 atop the NY Times best-seller list among non-fiction hardcover books. However, the NY Times also provides some additional information that may explain how Romney's book hit the #1 spot.

Whenever the NY Times places a "dagger" symbol next to a book, it signifies that "some bookstores report[ed] receiving bulk orders" for the book.

The NY Times placed not just one, but two, daggers next to Romney's book. You can draw your own conclusion as to who it was that purchased Governor Romney's book in bulk.

By contrast, the NY Times failed to place the "dagger" symbol next to Governor Palin's book in any of the weeks she held the top position on the NY Times best-seller list among non-fiction hardcover books. Despite the left's unsubstantiated theories, bookstores did not report to the NY Times that they received bulk orders for Going Rogue. See week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, week 5, and week 6. As you can see, in none of these weeks is there a dagger symbol next to her book.

Lazaran cautions "Don't shoot the messenger... I'm just reporting what I found... don't shoot the messenger."

Sidenote - former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania spoke before the Iowa Christian Alliance last Tuesday, in what many deemed a 2012 campaign trip. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has already visited the State once, and is planning on making an additional appearance at a Tax Rally in Des Moines on April 15.

The Iowa Straw Poll (held traditionally at the IA State Fair), is just 16 months away.

I'll be writing this weekend about my friend -- and superb congressional candidate -- Katherine Jenerette. As you know, she's running for the congressional seat in South Carolina's 1st District, one that stretches from Charleston, through Myrtle Beach, to the North Carolina border.

A South Carolina newspaper recently identified Katherine as the "inventor" of the Tea Party Movement. Actually, the original Tea Party in Boston Harbor occurred a couple of hundred years before Katherine was born.

In fact, the spirit of the Tea Party Movement has always been alive in this land. Katherine and millions of other Americans are the ones that are the guardians of that spirit.

Katherine Jenerette: Courageous Carolina Candidate

Someone recently said of Katherine Jenerette (see previous day's column below) that if a man had her resume, he'd probably be a US Senator and perhaps on the way to a nomination for the presidency. Anyone who looks honestly at Katherine's life finds a very bright, honorable, courageous individual. I look at Katherine as a dear friend and an exemplar of just about everything that's good about my fellow Americans.

Katherine Jenerette is a U.S. Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War Operation Desert Storm and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina with a Masters Degree from USC, Columbia. She served as U.S. Congressional Field Representative for the First Congressional District, South Carolina. She is married and the mother of four children and an Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.

She was recognized as one of the region's top runners when she was named to the NCAA Track & Field Big South Conference in 1994 and in 2000, Katherine represented her hometown of North Myrtle Beach in the Mrs. South Carolina International Pageant. American deserves a Congressman like her and we need to help her win the race for the House seat in SC's 1st Congressional District. She's running against strong candidates, including the sons of two South Carolina political icons. Can she win? She can if she raise just one-third of the money her better heeled competitors will accumulate for their campaigns. Yes, she needs your support. Can a representative of middle-class America like Katherine win a seat in a House of Representatives (or the Senate), two chambers overloaded with millionaires? As Hamlet said, "That is the question."

Southern Political Report said of Katherine: “While insiders question her ability to win either the nomination or the General Election, they note she has several advantages, including some name ID from her 2008 race, being from Horry County in a primary field possibly dominated by Charleston area contenders, and being the lone female in a race with a half-dozen or so males. “She’s sort of an outsider… she’s kind of got that Sarah Palin thing going on..”

And Adam Brickley said: “After spending a few minutes with her – I think this woman definitely has a shot. For one, she is a PISTOL - and I’m not even sure that term does her justice, even when bolded, italicized, underlined, and capitalized. She sat and chewed that fat with several bloggers for a few minutes - and this woman doesn’t just come off as a real person, she IS a real person. In all my political experience I have NEVER met a candidate with such a total lack of pretension.”

In Katherine's case, she enlisted in the Army at the age of 19. She's spent good chunks of her life in the deserts of the Middle East in the Persian Gulf War (one of her nicknames is "Desert Kate") and on the base at the home of the 82d Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC. She's made 15 airborne jumps and spent time training soldiers for deployment to the Middle East. In her spare time, she has four terrific kids.

You don't meet a lot of rich people in the military. You meet a lot of great people who have modest means (to say the least) and immodest levels of confidence and courage. You don't hobnob with the special interest groups that hand out campaign cash for "favors."

Katherine is not the kind of person who trades cash for favors. So, do I think Katherine will win? To use Sarah Palin's favorite line, "You betcha." She has spent her entire life over-achieving. She's someone who's taken on challenges much greater than those faced by most Americans, including her opponents in this years' race. Like the savvy South Carolinian she is, Katherine will outsmart her opponents most of the time -- and outwork them all the time.

Even a National Leftwing Blogger said of Katherine: “…she's no dummy. Neutrality? Google's Dirty Little Secret

"The company that controls our information controls what we know -- and think."

Google, the self-described "information company," has a dirty little secret.

It doesn't practice search neutrality -- doesn't play fair -- when it provides links to companies, candidates, and issues. In fact, it recently put one small company -- a mini-competitor -- out of business by refusing to provide links.

In search, Google dominates 80% of the market, and it clearly wants 100%. If Google weren't in Obama's hip pocket, that might not so horrifying.

Think Google's failure to practice search neutrality -- basic fairness -- couldn't swing a presidential election? Well, think again.

We need to stop this situation with our public clamor, including blog posts. If that doesn't work, we have some conservative friends in Congress we can appeal to.

Please -- today, if possible, or tomorrow -- blog about the importance of search neutrality. If you don't have time (who does these days?), please provide on your blog or web site a link to my piece on search neturality. Again, if you post on this, and I hope you will, please send me a link.

Google's corporate motto suggests an almost altruistic mission. However, the reality is much different from the brand's manicured image.

Recently here at RedState, ericathunderpaws wrote an open letter to Google outlining its censorship of search results critical of Islam, statist politics and the Chinese government. But this week, the New York Times brought to light the fact that Google doesn't only use it's overwhelming power to censor speech-apparently Google has now deemed itself worthy of deciding which small businesses thrive or fail.

After a 30-year career in the law, Dominique Barella left his job as president of the main union for French judges in 2006 and started a Web site, Ejustice.fr, that lets users search for legal resources in France.…[W]ithin a few months, it was attracting up to 20,000 visitors a day and selling a modest amount of advertising.That, Mr. Barella says, is when the trouble with Google began.

Overnight, traffic plunged - because, Mr. Barella says, the company stopped indexing pages from Ejustice.fr for inclusion in Google's search engine.

If Google can effectively shut down a small business, which, arguably, isn't even in competition with Google, what restraint DOES the company have?

In the late '90s, the Department of Justice took Microsoft to court over the bundling of their Internet Explorer browser with the Windows OS. At the time, the company had about 85% of the OS market share and, Justice charged, it used that power to shut out competitors. Today, Google's market share of search engine queries hovers around 80%.

Surely Google's programming of their search algorithm to censor political speech and strong-arm small businesses throughout the world deserves a government inquiry. And if it is found that the world's most-used search provider is employing a command-and-control strategy for the Internet, it must answer for its actions.

Who is Steve Maloney?

Stephen R. Maloney lives in Ambridge, PA (west of Pittsburgh), and works as a Communication Strategist for Republic Modern. Maloney has extensive experience as a college teacher of writing and American literature, a speechwriter for senior executives of major corporations (oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, health insurance, computer hardware, and others), and a fundraiser/advisor for conservative causes and candidates.

Politically, Maloney was an adviser to Newt Gingrich in the early 70s when Newt decided to run for the US House. More recently, he was a major player in the year-long campaign to promote Gov. Sarah Palin as a vice presidential choice for the national Republican ticket. Most recently, Maloney was cited by the Scott Brown campaign for helping to “nationalize” the race and to solicit support for Brown from activists around the country.

In the presidential election of 2008, he was a facilitator/manager for more than 200 bloggers supporting the McCain-Palin team. In addition, he works closely with 25-plus activists who have large mailing lists.

Maloney has strong relationships with some of the most important conservative bloggers in America, including Pamela Geller of AtlasShrugs2000.typepad.com, “Asia” of LogisticsMonster.com, Eric Dondero of Libertarian Republican, and Jill Rethman of “Hump Day.”
Here’s what Adam Brickley, who initiated the “Palin for VP” movement (and now has his pro-Palin blog in the Library of Congress) says about Maloney’s actions in that effort:

“Steve Maloney - Steve was the second-ever Palin blogger, and my lonely partner in crime for most of 2007. To be honest, Steve drove some of our earliest endorsements and did a lot of heavy lifting during a time when I couldn't (he had more time to blog than intern/college students). No Steve, no Palin Movement - period. By the way - Steve is still involved with a large network of Palin bloggers, C4P [Conservatives 4 Palin] is big, but Steve and his gang do a lot to keep together all of the little bloggers for Sarah. If you don't know him, you should”

In the past year, Maloney has worked with GrasstopsUSA in soliciting contributions for conservative causes from conservative activists. He’s a specialist in the challenging area of e-mail fundraising, using a tested formula for soliciting donations.

Maloney has written extensively (for candidates and others) about how to win tough campaigns. His emphasis has been on how to overcome candidates who are better-funded . . . mainly through reliance on “free media” (including blogs and blog talk radio) and volunteer organizations, such as Tea Party and 912 groups.

In his college days, he won a prestigious New York State Regents College Teaching Fellowship and received a PhD. in English and American Literature at the University of Rochester. Maloney taught literature and writing at the College of William and Mary and the University of Georgia, where he was assistant editor of The Georgia Review.

Search Neutrality: Major Internet Issue

"He who controls what you read controls what you think."

The next big issue isn't "net neutrality," a bad, liberal idea, but rather search neutrality. If you're a blogger or other online communicator, I hope you'll begin talking about search neutrality, a necessary step in bringing basic fairness to Internet searches -- the kind you and I engage in every day. [Please feel free to use this article on your own blog.]

The Red State story below (in italics) explains search neutrality. It's about presenting information -- links -- fairly -- without corporate bias.

We avoid supporting search neutrality at our peril, because without it one company -- Google -- will completely control the search engine business. Currently, Google dominates "search" in America and increasingly in the world. Its share of that business is a staggering 80%.

Because we read what search engines find for us, Google can determine what we know about any particular subject.

Does Google conduct its search business wisely and fairly? Short answer: absolutely not. It highlights its commercial sponsors, "bumps up" companies it likes, and features stories in line with its own political and social biases.

Have you ever wondered why all the stories hostile to Gov. Sarah Palin (including outright lies) make it to the front page in a Google search? And have you ever wondered why the pro-Palin stories seems to find their way to page 11, the one almost no one ever finds? Google has a love affair with The Daily Kos, Huffington Post, Democratic Underground, Washington Post, and New York Times, none of them every confused with admirers of Gov. Palin -- or other conservatives.

As the Red State essay shows, Google also uses its control to drive out companies that it doesn't favor. That's unfair. It's anti-competitive. And it's a terrible abuse of power.

Yes, Google is relentlessly liberal -- with its CEO being a major fan of (and contributor) to the increasingly unloved Barack Hussein Obama. And yes, there's growing evidence that Google is malevolent.

But rather than hurling curses at it, we should focus on the need for search neutrality, for basic fairness. Of course, "fairness" is the last thing a market dominator wants. Google wants to be Gargantua. It wants to "filter" what goes into your head.

Ft. Hood: Obama's Crotch Salute

This man is a walking human disgrace. Barack Obama is the President of the US, so why can't he, at least occasionally, act like one? You'll notice that his TelePrompter is blocking the faces of the other military figures who are saluting at the Ft. Hood Memorial Service. Obama is neither saluting nor putting his hand over his heart. I guess his question would be, "Why should I?" As a man who's been anti-military since his teen years, he is mystified by American soldiers, people who are ready to give their lives for their country.

Six Ways to Defeat ObamaCare

We expect the dirty backroom deal on ObamaCare to be
struck this week. But final passage is not yet guaranteed.
See below for six ways ObamaCare can still be defeated
(including the "Massachusetts Miracle").

Dear Patriot,

With Harry Reid under the gun for his "negro dialect" comments
and public opposition to ObamaCare continuing to increase,
the pressure is mounting for Democrats to finalize their
backroom deal.

We believe that deal could be struck this week. Reid and
Pelosi will agree to bypass the traditional House-Senate
Conference and rush identical bills back to their chambers
for a final vote.

But with each passing day, their secretive strategy is getting
more difficult.

And although ObamaCare is still likely to pass and be signed
into law, this is not a done deal!

In fact, we have identified six possible scenarios that could
cause ObamaCare to be defeated.

I'll start with the least likely...

#6--Union blues
The left is nearly as angry as the Right, calling the Reid bill
a bailout for the insurance industry. The unions are upset
about the tax on their so-called "Cadillac" health care plans
and want that removed. The Left has held the coalition together
with a "live together, die alone" motto, but politics changes
with the wind. And the Left knows the winds are changing. I
list this first because it is the least likely. But it is
still possible.

#5--One Democrat Senator can't make it to the floor to vote.
Despite the backroom deals and dirty tricks, as we understand
it there will be one more final cloture vote in the Senate.
Rules require 60 votes to invoke cloture. If one Democrat
Senator can't make it to the floor, for any reason (health,
accident, death etc.) they don't have 60 votes.

#4--The Cornhusker Kickback kicks back.
Arnold Schwarzenegger told California's members of Congress
to vote NO unless their state also gets the Cornhusker
Kickback. Now Dems are scrambling to give every state a
kickback. The more talk about kickbacks and the more
uncomfortable everyone is with this entire fiasco.

#3--Abortion issue divides Democrats.
Rep. Bart Stupak has already voiced his opposition to Nelson's
compromise and says he has the votes to stop any abortion-
funding ObamaCare bill. An equal number of House Democrats
have vowed to torpedo any final bill that includes Stupak's
amendment. One group must blink for ObamaCare to pass.

#2--Three House Democrats change their votes.
Abortion is just one of the issues dividing Democrats. Rep.
Cantor has identified 34 House Democrats who are facing a
very difficult vote based on three issues: abortion, Medicare
Advantage, and state budget crises. It is now an election year.
The pressure is building. If three members feel enough heat
to switch their votes, ObamaCare fails.

#1--The Massachusetts Miracle.
The Bay State's special election next week to fill the late
Sen. Kennedy's seat is now a tossup in some polls, and
Republican candidate Scott Brown has pledged to be the
41st vote to block ObamaCare. If Brown is seated before
the final ObamaCare vote, game over. There is already
talk that if Brown wins, Democrats will stall his election
certification in order to keep him from casting the
deciding vote.

The special election is next Tuesday (1/19), before any final
votes will be cast on ObamaCare. If a Republican takes Teddy
Kennedy's seat, I say all bets are off. Democrats from
coast-to-coast will suddenly get a lot more nervous about
voting for ObamaCare. Unlike old king Belshazzar in the
book of Daniel, they won't need a prophet to interpret the
"handwriting on the wall" -- vote now for ObamaCare and
get defeated in November.

Scott Brown Campaign: Our "Gettysburg"

All hands on deck! The Jan. 19 special election may be our Gettysburg! [This is a guest column from a great national activist whose handle is "Tempus Sans."]

Please realize folks that the special election in Mass. on Jan. 19 to replace the late Ted Kennedy would be a complete turning point for us if Republican Scott Brown wins. He would be the 41st vote we need to stop the Obama, reid, pelosi agenda. Even if Obamacare goes through, this would stop cap n trade, and stop the most damaging illegal immigration reform ever set forth by a congress and a president.

The Dems are positioning themselves to make all 20 million illegals instantly legal, securing enough votes to give the dems indefinite power. Scott Brown's election would stop all this dead in its tracks. Scott Brown was only recently 30 pts behind Martha Coakley and has surged to within a few percentage points. He desperately needs money and people to make phone calls for him(boots on the ground). There is nothing more important then this race right now!

FactCheck, Snopes, Mostly Bogus

Some of my dear friends occasionally send me information that they "verified" through FactCheck.org or "Snopes." I always wince.

Neither FactCheck nor Snopes is some vast enterprise of truth-seekers. In fact, they're both staffed by a few Obamabots who rarely find anything wrong with anything -- no matter how preposterous -- that BHO and his minions say or do.

Who do you think the man are woman are abover?

They're Jess Henig and Joe Miller, two charter members of the Obama Adoration Society (OAS). They ARE FactCheck.org.

To paraphrase Bugs Bunny, "They're all, folks."

FactCheck.Org declared that Obama's computer-generated certificate of live birth (COLB, see above) was "authentic." Barack Obama was born in August, 1061. THERE WERE NO COMPUTERS THEN -- at least ones any smaller than a football field.

Jess and Joe "verified" it. Case closed, right? Nope.

Jess and Joe have absolutely no forensic skills. (I have a hunch B. Hussein knew that.)

Actually, above is the only known authentic copy of Obama's birth certificate. It was authenticated by the aforesaid Mr. Bunny.

Simple Points for GOP Victories

As Republicans, we need to make some simple points to people who are rich and poor, Black and White: Our approach will make a better life for you and your family. We won't give you a handout, but we will give you a hand up. The success of your life depends not on government, but on your own initiative and hard work. If you have those qualities, we will support you every step of the way.

Above all, we need to avoid talking people to death. Our points have to be simple and clear.

BrowN Drawing Even in Massachusetts

n Dear Friends: This morning on FOX News Democratic pollster Doug Schoen said that with a "most likely voter" poll, conservative Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown in MA has drawn within TWO percentage points of his far-left Democrat opponent (Martha Coakley).

This is wonderful news, but we have more work to do to make sure Scott wins in the Jan. 19 special election. [NOTE: SCROLL DOWN FOR INFORMATION ON PHONE CALLS.)

If Scott Brown wins on Jan. 19, he will be a strong opponent of ObamaCare; he will vote against the Cap-and-Tax bill; he will oppose tax increases. He will vote against the liberals' socialization of nearly everything. Unlike Coakley and Obama, Scott does not shrink away from using the phrase "War on Terror."

In contrast, his opponent will be another robotic liberal, one in favor of everything on Obama's, Pelosi's, and Reid's destructive agenda.

Scott would be the critical 41st vote in the U.S. Senate.

One woman told me that her family's difficult financial circumstances made it impossible right now for her to donate to Scott's campaign. But she told me she was praying for Scott; I told her that was more than enough.

Yes, if you can, please donate to Scott at his web site. Just as important, you can learn on his site how to can call into in MA for Scott from your home phone. Activists are making tens of thousands of such calls from nearly every state in the union.

If Scott wins by a relative handful of votes, you will have made the difference.

I hope youi'll make such calls. You can make 20 of them -- or you can make a thousand. On my blog today (www.stevemaloneygop.blogspot.com), I'll put up a short piece about making such calls painlessly -- and effectively.

The battle for the Massachusetts Senate seat is one of the most important races in my lifetime. We are so close to winning it that all of us can taste it.

Please give Scott every type of help you can provide. And God bless all of you for the heroic work you've already done.

MAKING PHONE CALLS FOR A CANDIDATE

On phone calls: if you make 20 of them on behalf of a candidate, you can get him or her 1-2-3extra votes. If you make 20,000 (!!!!), as my friend Sharon Caliendo of Oklahoma did, you can get your candidate(s) roughly 500-1000 additional votes. You'll induce people to go vote who would otherwise stay home.

You can learn how to make phone calls from your home to any state. See how it works by going to Senate candidate Scott Brown's web site: www.brownforussenate.com. After you visit, please make at least a few phone calls for Scott, who is very close to victory in that critical election.

When a candidate gives you a script to use on his or her behalf, look at it carefully. Make sure it's up-to-date (often they aren't). Also, make sure each word is one you'd use in real life. For example, if the script contains the word "country" and you'd be more comfortable using "nation," then make the change.

When you make the calls, you should be giving the recipient (note: you'll get a lot of voice mails), at least one good reason (e.g., "He's committed to reducing taxes") to vote for your candidate . . . and asking them to vote for a specific candidate (e.g., Scott Brown) on a particular day (Jan. 19, 2009).

Be confident and positive -- no monotones -- as you deliver your message. NEVER fight with a caller about candidates or issues. If you get any resistance -- and that will be rare -- thank the person for his or her time and then go on to the next call. You're calling to make friends for your candidate; your secondary purpose is to avoid making enemies.

If someone asks you a question -- this will be rare also -- where you don't know the answer, tell the person you will find out the answer . . . and call back. Then, do it.

What you're aiming for is something that might sound contradictory: controlled enthusiasm. You are going to be making one phone call after another . . . to help your candidate win. If you're really on your game, you should be able to make 30--35 phone calls per hour.

Your script should be no more than 100 words. To the greatest degree possible, they should be words that convey positive emotions. Psych yourself up if necessary.

One useful tactic: call up your own voice mail and then see how well you did. Were there any words that didn't "work?" Were you enthusiastic -- but not to the point of silliness?

With some calls, the candidate may ask you to do a survey, such as asking recipients if they've made a decision yet on a candidate. Note: Don't ever mention the opponent's name (in this case, Martha Coakley). You may ask something like this: "Have you decided yet whether you'll vote for Scott Brown . . . or his opponent?") If you're asking such questions, you are indeed conducting a survey. If you can mention Scott's name a couple of times it will help him, because his "name recognition" is not as good yet as it could be.

As with almost anything life, phone calls are mainly a matter of you using common sense. What would work with you will work with the people you call?

When I was making calls for McCain-Palin, I used to say, "Hello, my name is Steve Maloney . . . from Ambridge, PA . . . and I'm calling on behalf of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin . . .

MA: Scott Brown Getting Closer

A current Rasmussen Poll has Martha Coakley (D) leading Scott Brown (R) by 9% (50-41, with 7% undecided) in the Massachusetts race for the seat formerly held by Teddy Kennedy.

Brown has steadily been cutting into Coakley's lead, and the massive support he's receiving from you and other onliners is making a difference. The special election will be held on January 19, two weeks from today.

The dynamics of this race are working in Brown's favor. His opponent, Martha Coakley, would make about as good a U.S. Senator as she would a partridge in a pear tree. It's an off-year, off-month election, and Scott Brown has all the momentum.

How can we bring Scott across the finish line a few inches ahead of his opponent? By doing what we've done so far -- contributing money and volunteering to make phone calls -- only to do more of them.

Republican Candidates: Winning in 2010

Starting today, I'll be sending out mailings (from time to time) directed at candidates, and I'm going to put you on the list as a possible candidate for US Senate from Hawaii.

There is a big problem with the "traditional" topdown way of running for office. Over-reliance on Beltway types, including John Cornyn at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and Pete Sessions at the Republican Campaign Congressional Committee (RCCC), is a disaster.

The NRSC has invested significant money in two primary campaigns in this decade: the Arlen Specter race against conservative Pat Toomey in 2004 and the Lincoln Chaffee race in 2006. In other words, the NRSC spent significant money in primaries backing the two most liberal Republicans in the Senate. (Chaffee won the primary and lost the general. Arlen Specter? Read on . . . )

This year, John Cornyn endorsed Arlen Specter against Toomey, just before Arlen admitted he was in fact a liberal Democrat. Cornyn also endorsed liberal FL Republican Charlie Crist who, it turns out, has no chance of winning the Florida primary against conservative Marco Rubio.

As for Pete Sessions and RCCC: the biggest investment they've made recently has been the nearly one million dollars spent on backing Dede Scozzafava in the New York 23d congressional race. Of course, Scozzafava, before she endorsed the liberal Democrat Bill Owens (who won in a close race), dropped out because she had little support.

Who in his or her right mind is going to contribute to the NRSC or the RCCC?

If conservative Republican candidates want support from the vast Tea Party movement, they had better prepare to take several of them to DC to work on their congressional or senatorial staffs.

There are in fact ways that a young woman could become a member of the US Senate from Hawaii. It might not happen in a race this year against left-wing Democrat Inouye. It could happen in a future race against left-wing Senator Akaka. (There is a Republican Governor, Linda Lingle, in that state where Republicans supposedly can't win.)

Rhode Island may be the most liberal state in the Union. But it has a conservative Republican Governor. In Joe Biden's liberal Delaware, a Republican candidate for the US Senate (Mike Castle) is running well ahead in the polls.

There are ways to win uphill (even "up mountain") races. One way is to turn the race into a national crusade, as Rubio has done in Florida). Other people who have "nationalized" their races effectively were Barack Obama, Bob McDonnell (in VA), and Chris Christie in NJ.

Many of us are trying to use the same approach with Scott Brown, who's running for the US Senate from Massachusetts and, guess what, it's working. The Scott Brown campaign has reported a tremendous upsurge in online donations and volunteers. I played a role in that . . . and so have many other activists.

I believe all the candidates I'm supporting can win -- and will win if they wage 21st century campaigns. They will not win if they follow the 19th century approach favored by so many Beltway types.

Political superstar Cindy Reidhead in New Mexico said a year ago about political races: "The one who has the best e-mail list . . . wins." What was Cindy talking about? Consider the following comment by David Plouffe, who ran Obama's "digital campaign":

"Our e-mail list [in the Obama Campaign] had reached 13 million people [an average of 27,000 for each congressional district].

"We had essentially created our own television network, only better, because we communicated with no filter to what would amount to about 20 percent of the total number of votes we would need to win.

"And those supporters would share our positive message or response to an attack, whether through orchestrated campaign activity like door-knocking or phone calling or just in conversations they had each day with friends, family, and colleagues." (p. 364 of Plouffe's The Audacity to Win)

Why did McCain lose? Let me count the ways . . . starting with the vast difference between his e-mail list and Obama's. When Obama had thousands of Bloggers backing him, McCain (literally) had dozens.

If you as a candidate do everything right, including a heavy reliance on digital technology, you will win your election . . . even when your opponent has more money. If you read only one book between now and Election Day, it probably should be Plouffe's.

Obama's Presidency: A Colossal Failure

Below, you'll see Rex Murphy's superb column in the Toronto Globe and Mail. His point -- and who would dispute it? -- is that, not-yet-one-year-into-the-Obama-presidency -- we are already tired of the preposterous man who occupies the White House. Whatever or whoever you might be, Barack, all we ask is that you be gone.

I think Time went to the relatively faceless functionary Bernanke mainly not to name Barack Obama. Time, like a lot of its fellows in the wild world of the contemporary U.S. media, is in an awkward place with regards to Mr. Obama. Having devoted so much incense to his remarkable ascendancy, a great swath of his country's press is looking for a convenient and not too noticeable off-ramp while it – shall we say – recalibrates its enthusiasm.

It's an uncomfortable pivot from the audacity of hope to buyer's remorse. Very uncomfortable for those in the media who played the cheerleader for Mr. Obama, who skated by controversies that would have sunk other candidates or abandoned the ruthless investigations they would have pressed on less congenial candidates.

The ferocity they applied to the Republican vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, in contrast with the timidity they brought to his campaign, will in time come to be seen as one of the most shameful episodes in American journalism. Not so much for what they did to Ms. Palin, but for what they neglected to do in examining the candidate for the office that really counted. In some curious way, the U.S. media's bulldogging of Ms. Palin was kind of an inverted compensation for what they weren't doing to him.

Well, the bands have stopped playing for Barack Obama. At the end of 2009, the poll numbers have dropped mercilessly. He may yet get his health reform package, but only in the teeth of great public resistance. More Americans simply don't like what he's doing with health care than do. The great “cool” of Mr. Obama – essentially all those qualities that marked him as the non-George Bush, the anti-George Bush – is wearing a little thin now that Mr. Bush is really no longer a figure in play.

That cool now is seen as a troubling lack of affect, an unsettling passionlessness. What really, in his public role, captures or commands the fundamental energies of Mr. Obama? What are his core convictions and aspirations? It's very hard to tell.

His eloquence is fading, more people now find it more a trick of rhythm and cadence – a mannerism – rather than felt thought in memorable language. His recent statement to an anxious America after the Christmas Day bomb plot was flat, off-key and utterly unpersuasive. He went to Copenhagen, played the frantic for the better part of a day and came home essentially empty-handed. Hugo Chavez is mocking him in precisely the same terms as he mocked poor Mr. Bush.

Most of all, Mr. Obama has exploded his own credentials as the agent of (genuine) hope and change. The promise to remodel the essentially harsh nature of modern politics, to seek transformation in the tone and substance of public life, to end Washington's buying and selling, is seen now, and seen very reluctantly such was the real hope he inspired, as empty. His White House is as dagger partisan as Richard Nixon's.

Almost a full year into his presidency, Mr. Obama is at a dangerous point. His ability to inspire has all but departed. The novelty of his historic ascension is over. And, late though it be, there are now questions about his effectiveness. As there are also doubts about whether that magnificently cool presence – his much-touted ability to distance himself from the turbulence and passions of those around him – springs from a fear of being overwhelmed by events rather than a confidence in mastering them.

No wonder Time gave him a pass.

Recommendations for Challengers Running for Office

I recommend that all challengers gather their long "lists" of volunteers and financial supporters . . . and that they hold as many "Town Halls" as possible, whether they have ten participants or a thousand. They need to talk soon to every person who has regular contacts with others . . . including barbers, hair dressers, insurance salespeople, cops, principals, ministers, and others. They also need to do something most people hate: ask everybody for money, including very small donations. They should rely more on radio than on TV -- drive-time and talk radio. Radio is inexpensive, TV isn't.

A candidate to keep an eye on: Les Phillip in Alabama's 5th congressional district (Huntsville area). Les is a Black conservative running against Parker Griffith, who recently switched to the Republican caucus. He could use your help.

Scott Brown for US Senate

Dear Conservative Activist Friends: As most of you know, I've been highlight the campaign of Scott Brown, a Republican who's running for the US Senate ("the Teddy Kennedy Seat") in Massachusetts.

If Brown receives support -- financial, organizational, and moral -- from thousands of activists around the country, he will win the special election to be held on Jan. 19 (less than three weeks from now).

Are my activities -- and yours -- really making a difference for Scott Brown? Two days ago I received the following message from a member of his campaign staff:

"I am the policy advisor on the Scott Brown campaign. I have been getting your emails since Sarah was announced as the VP. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. Also how many people do generally send this email out to? We have seen an enormous surge of interest in our website.

"Thank you and happy new year." -- R.K.

When the Brown Campaign adviser sent that e-mail, she made my day -- and I hope she's doing the same for all of you who recognize the importance of making Scott the 41st Republican vote in the Senate.

Yes, it is Massachusetts, and voters in that state tend to pull the Democrat lever much the same way Pavlov's dog salivated when the bell rang. And Scott Brown is an underdog.

However, if Scott wins, it would mark the beginning of the end for not only the reign of "Nancy and Harry," but also the Obama presidency.

He's much less an underdog today than he was a few weeks ago.

Scott is in favor of limited government and low taxes, the very policies that are essential if we're ever to restore our country to economic health.

Scott's opponent is Martha Coakley, a former prosecutor. Those of you who want to Google her will find out her specialty was ferociously prosecuting people for crimes they hadn't committed. Her efforts even have a title: "The Second Salem Witch Trials."

Thus, Coakley is against "witches"; she is in favor apparently of all the big government policies promoted by Obama and Reid.

In a sane world, Scott Brown would win in a landslide. As you and I know, however, a one-vote victory in politics is just as good as a landslide.

If you visit Scott's web site -- www.brownforussenate.com -- you can find many ways to help him win on Jan. 19. They have a major effort that will enable people to call in from out-of-state.

My own emphasis in 2010 will be to spend 2,000 hours (I'm semi-retired) trying to elect outstanding candidates. On my blog -- www.stevemaloneygop.blogspot.com -- I'll be writing every day about important races . . . and practical steps we can take to win back the House of Representatives. It may take until 2012 to win back the Senate, but we're due for some big victories.

I'm hoping all of you will share campaign ideas that work. Of course, one approach that always works is to ask friends, family, and associates to join us in voting for great candidates.

2010: 12 Hot House Races

What are the hottest races in the House for 2010? To get answers to that question, you need to visit Stuart Rothenberg at http://www.rothenbergpoliticalreport.blogspot.com/. His December 3, 2009 column says the following about key House races:

There are two caveats that go with the list. First, there are strong arguments for including at least half a dozen other districts on the list. So, not being on this list doesn’t mean a contest is not extremely competitive. Second, since the midterm elections are still almost a year off, this list is likely to change significantly before November.

Louisiana’s 2nd: Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao, the only Republican to vote for the House’s health care reform bill, had no business winning this majority-black district. He won only because of the timing of the 2008 elections and the unique problems of then-Rep. William Jefferson (D). This time, Democrats are likely to have an unindicted nominee, which should end Cao’s service in Congress at one term. Two state Representatives have already announced they are running. Expect a turnover.

Delaware’s At-Large: Rep. Mike Castle’s decision to run for Senate was great news for the National Republican Senatorial Committee but bad news for House Republicans. Former Lt. Gov. John Carney (D) was already running when Castle made his announcement, so Democrats have a serious candidate in the race. Since the state leans Democratic, Republicans will need to find a formidable nominee even to contest the seat seriously.

Louisiana’s 3rd: With Rep. Charlie Melancon (D) running for Senate, this open seat gives the GOP an excellent takeover opportunity. The district gave President Barack Obama only 37 percent of the vote in 2008, so the Republican nominee should benefit from normal midterm dynamics. Of course, with a late August primary, the race won’t shake out for months.

Virginia’s 5th: Freshman Rep. Tom Perriello (D) seems more interested in doing what he thinks is right than getting re-elected. That’s the only way to explain his votes supporting House Democrats’ cap-and-trade and health care reform bills. State Sen. Robert Hurt (R) is expected to challenge Perriello, and the Congressman is in deep, deep trouble. Obama’s 48 percent showing last year in this district understates Perriello’s challenge next year.

Maryland’s 1st: Unlike Perriello, Rep. Frank Kratovil (D) has voted as if he is trying to be re-elected. But he barely scraped by Republican Andy Harris in an open-seat contest last time, and the midterm electorate will make his re-election bid more difficult. He has a chance to win another term, but the odds aren’t in his favor. Obama drew only 40 percent of the vote in the 1st in 2008.

Kansas’ 3rd: When Rep. Dennis Moore announced his retirement last week, Democratic prospects tanked. While Obama won this district with 51 percent, it generally leans Republican, and the open seat during a midterm election looks like a juicy GOP target.

Ohio’s 1st: Rep. Steve Driehaus (D) knocked off then-Rep. Steve Chabot (R) last year, and now Chabot is trying to return the favor. Expected lower turnout among Democratic core groups, especially younger voters and blacks, places this district at great risk even though Obama won it with 55 percent.

Ohio’s 15th: Freshman Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D) has many of the same problems — and the same challenges — that confront Driehaus in the state’s 1st district. Unlike Driehaus, Kilroy faces a rematch against an opponent who has never won district-wide. But former state Sen. Steve Stivers (R) should be a formidable foe.

Florida’s 8th: Rep. Alan Grayson (D), another freshman, has gone out of his way to be partisan and inflammatory. That’s a good way to raise money and attract the fawning admiration of liberal activists, but it isn’t the best way to get re-elected in this Republican-leaning district that went for Obama with 52 percent. The GOP doesn’t yet have a “name” challenger, and the party may never get one. But given Grayson’s recent behavior, they may not need one to take back this district after a single term.

New Mexico’s 2nd: Rep. Harry Teague faces former Rep. Steve Pearce (R), who gave up his seat in 2008 to run for Senate. Teague has tried to vote his district, but he isn’t being helped by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Obama, who drew 49 percent of the district’s vote in 2008. Definitely a midterm problem for Democrats.

New Hampshire’s 2nd: The Granite State has swung strongly Democratic of late — probably too strongly considering the state’s fundamentals. This open seat, and the likely candidacy of former Rep. Charles Bass (R), should give Republicans at least an even money chance of winning back the district during the midterm elections. But attorney Ann McLane Kuster, the early favorite for the Democratic nomination and the daughter of a former liberal Republican state legislator, should be a formidable standard-bearer for her party.

New York’s 23rd: Special election winner Rep. Bill Owens won his seat with less than 50 percent of the vote, and if Republicans find a nominee who can appeal to both conservatives and moderates, Owens will find himself in trouble. His first vote was for the House health care reform bill.

Tomorrow (New Year's Day), I'll be writing (and not for the last time) about what Republicans must do to take back the House of Representatives . . . and end Nancy Pelosi's tenure as Speaker of the House.

Scott Brown: Massachusetts' January Surprise

Dear Friends: There's a "January Surprise" brewing in Massachusetts.

If John F. Kennedy were still alive, he would be a Republican. Remember his Inaugural Address where he said, "Let every nation know, whether friend or foe, that we shall bear any burden, pay any price, to ensure the survival of liberty." Can you imagine any contemporary Democrat, including Barack Obama, making a similar statement? JFK never apologized for America.

Also, confronting a serious economic slowdown, Kennedy cut taxes sharply, in order to spur economic growth and job creation. In contrast, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are raising taxes dramatically.

The Kennedyesque candidate in the special election for a US Senate seat in Massachusetts on Jan. 19 is . . . Republican Scott Brown. If Brown wins -- when he wins -- he will be the critical 41st vote in the Senate. As such, he'd cripple the left-wing's effort to impose on us their socialist agenda.

In the Wall Street Journal on Sept. 8, Gov. Sarah Palin discussed workable solutions to America's health care problems. She confronts her Marxist opponent, Barack Obama, and basically kicks him to the curb.

Writing in the New York Times last month, President Barack Obama asked that Americans "talk with one another, and not over one another" as our health-care debate moves forward.
I couldn't agree more. Let's engage the other side's arguments, and let's allow Americans to decide for themselves whether the Democrats' health-care proposals should become governing law.

Some 45 years ago Ronald Reagan said that "no one in this country should be denied medical care because of a lack of funds." Each of us knows that we have an obligation to care for the old, the young and the sick. We stand strongest when we stand with the weakest among us.

We also know that our current health-care system too often burdens individuals and businesses—particularly small businesses—with crippling expenses. And we know that allowing government health-care spending to continue at current rates will only add to our ever-expanding deficit.

How can we ensure that those who need medical care receive it while also reducing health-care costs? The answers offered by Democrats in Washington all rest on one principle: that increased government involvement can solve the problem. I fundamentally disagree.

Common sense tells us that the government's attempts to solve large problems more often create new ones. Common sense also tells us that a top-down, one-size-fits-all plan will not improve the workings of a nationwide health-care system that accounts for one-sixth of our economy. And common sense tells us to be skeptical when President Obama promises that the Democrats' proposals "will provide more stability and security to every American."

With all due respect, Americans are used to this kind of sweeping promise from Washington. And we know from long experience that it's a promise Washington can't keep.

Let's talk about specifics. In his Times op-ed, the president argues that the Democrats' proposals "will finally bring skyrocketing health-care costs under control" by "cutting . . . waste and inefficiency in federal health programs like Medicare and Medicaid and in unwarranted subsidies to insurance companies . . . ."

First, ask yourself whether the government that brought us such "waste and inefficiency" and "unwarranted subsidies" in the first place can be believed when it says that this time it will get things right. The nonpartistan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) doesn't think so: Its director, Douglas Elmendorf, told the Senate Budget Committee in July that "in the legislation that has been reported we do not see the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount."

Now look at one way Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He's asked Congress to create an Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group of experts charged with containing Medicare costs. In an interview with the New York Times in April, the president suggested that such a group, working outside of "normal political channels," should guide decisions regarding that "huge driver of cost . . . the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives . . . ."

Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats' proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by—dare I say it—death panels? Establishment voices dismissed that phrase, but it rang true for many Americans.

Working through "normal political channels," they made themselves heard, and as a result Congress will likely reject a wrong-headed proposal to authorize end-of-life counseling in this cost-cutting context. But the fact remains that the Democrats' proposals would still empower unelected bureaucrats to make decisions affecting life or death health-care matters. Such government overreaching is what we've come to expect from this administration.

Speaking of government overreaching, how will the Democrats' proposals affect the deficit? The CBO estimates that the current House proposal not only won't reduce the deficit but will actually increase it by $239 billion over 10 years. Only in Washington could a plan that adds hundreds of billions to the deficit be hailed as a cost-cutting measure.

The economic effects won't be limited to abstract deficit numbers; they'll reach the wallets of everyday Americans. Should the Democrats' proposals expand health-care coverage while failing to curb health-care inflation rates, smaller paychecks will result. A new study for Watson Wyatt Worldwide by Steven Nyce and Syl Schieber concludes that if the government expands health-care coverage while health-care inflation continues to rise "the higher costs would drive disposable wages downward across most of the earnings spectrum, although the declines would be steepest for lower-earning workers." Lower wages are the last thing Americans need in these difficult economic times.

Finally, President Obama argues in his op-ed that Democrats' proposals "will provide every American with some basic consumer protections that will finally hold insurance companies accountable." Of course consumer protection sounds like a good idea. And it's true that insurance companies can be unaccountable and unresponsive institutions—much like the federal government. That similarity makes this shift in focus seem like nothing more than an attempt to deflect attention away from the details of the Democrats' proposals—proposals that will increase our deficit, decrease our paychecks, and increase the power of unaccountable government technocrats.

Instead of poll-driven "solutions," let's talk about real health-care reform: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven. As the Cato Institute's Michael Cannon and others have argued, such policies include giving all individuals the same tax benefits received by those who get coverage through their employers; providing Medicare recipients with vouchers that allow them to purchase their own coverage; reforming tort laws to potentially save billions each year in wasteful spending; and changing costly state regulations to allow people to buy insurance across state lines. Rather than another top-down government plan, let's give Americans control over their own health care.

Democrats have never seriously considered such ideas, instead rushing through their own controversial proposals. After all, they don't need Republicans to sign on: Democrats control the House, the Senate and the presidency. But if passed, the Democrats' proposals will significantly alter a large sector of our economy. They will not improve our health care. They will not save us money. And, despite what the president says, they will not "provide more stability and security to every American."

We often hear such overblown promises from Washington. With first principles in mind and with the facts in hand, tell them that this time we're not buying it.

Unlikely to be much recalled this week is the fact that, in 1983, Senator Edward Kennedy offered advice to the USSR on how to defeat U.S. efforts to build up the Western nuclear deterrent in Europe; sought the assistance of the USSR in Democratic Party efforts to defeat Ronald Reagan in the election campaign of 1984; and proposed the staging of a public Kennedy visit with Yuri Andropov in Moscow to help attain these ends. Senator Kennedy's intermediary in his communications with the KGB and Yuri Andropov was John Tunney [Kennedy friend and former Senator from California].

An internal Soviet memorandum detailing Kennedy's offer of assistance to the USSR was unearthed by a Times of London reporter in the 1990s when, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the KGB files were opened.

The memorandum was written by Victor Chebrikov, who succeeded Yuri Andropov as head of the KGB when Andropov became General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Chebrikov directed the KGB from 1982 to 1988.

The full text of the Chebrikov memorandum was published in the appendix (pp. 317-320) of Paul Kengor's book, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.

In his book, The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World, (pp. 197-198), John O'Sullivan also discussed the 1983 Kennedy overture to Andropov, noting that "Kennedy made several subsequent attempts to advise the Soviets on the best way to outwit Reagan", adding that "The only mystery is why Andropov turned down Kennedy's offer. The answer seems to be that, when it came to left-wing Western politicians hoping to assist the Kremlin's foreign policy, the Soviets were suffering from an embarrassment of riches."

Award Nominations

Doug Brady wrote a great post earlier proposing August 29, the anniversary of Gov. Palin's nomination as the Republican vice presidential candidate, as "Sarah Palin Day". This is a fine idea. He also nominated yours truly for some kind of award (thanks!). However, I would be remiss not to throw in a few nominations myself. I get a lot of credit for launching the original Draft Palin site, but there are definitely two or three people who did at least as much work as I did and hence deserve awards. So, I would place the following nominations for the Sarah Palin Day Award:

1. Steve Maloney - Steve was the second-ever Palin blogger, and my lonely partner in crime for most of 2007. To be honest, Steve drove some of our earliest endorsements and did a lot of heavy lifting during a time when I couldn't (retirees have more time to blog than intern/college students). No Steve, no Palin Movement - period. By the way - Steve is still involved with a large network of Palin bloggers, C4P is big, but Steve and his gang do a lot to keep together all of the little bloggers for Sarah. If you don't know him, you should.

2. Kristopher Lorelli - Started his own Palin site in early 2008, PalinForVp.com (prompting me to buy up PalinForVP.net, PalinForVP.org, and PalinForVP.info). Despite the odd name similarity, Kris was a great partner, and did even more work behind the scenes than he did with his site. From what I heard, quite a large amount of pro-Palin literature and email was sent to McCain campaign officials by Kris. He's now one of the major brains at the other team blog I contribute to - Race42012.

Commenter of the Year Award - "The Original Ted"For any hard-core, long-time Palinite who was involved in the movement before Sarah's nomination, Ted needs no introduction. If you got involved later - I'm sure many old-schoolers in the comments section will be happy to tell you about his efforts. I will leave the Ted stories to the commenters - as it seems only right that our commenter award nominee should be lauded primarily by his compatriots below the fold.

Despite all of the denials, death panels already exist in Oregon. Here's how they work:

A woman's doctor recommends she get medical treatment. The state-run healthcare system says no and refers her to an assisted suicide specialist. The bureaucrat in charge of what amounts to a real death panel admits that the money could be better spent elsewhere, so the patient is going to have to die. It is an inevitable fact of life that the more the government outlays to keep you alive, the more your life becomes subject to a cost/benefit analysis...

I am on the email list of a dear black friend of 20 years. He is a minister, writer and professor. He has mentored and advised me with great wisdom on numerous occasions. With me being a black conservative Republican and he a Democrat, we avoid talking politics. Since the election of Obama, my friend will talk about nothing else. He is in Baltimore. I'm in Florida. Every time he calls me, he turns the conversation into trashing all who oppose Obama's agenda. Thank God for caller ID.

I received a mass email from my friend in which he vilifies the Christian community for not chastising ministers who speak against Obama and for not attacking Sarah Palin. He said the Republicans used Palin as their "attack dog against Obama." He said watching a McCain/Palin rally was like watching a KKK lynch mob and he personally heard the crowds yelling, "kill him," referring to Obama. Folks, my dear friend is a liar.

In 2008, I traveled the U.S. attending forty rallies on the national "Stop Obama Tour" with Our Country Deserves Better PAC. Not once, did I hear any violent or racist comments. Seeing through his smooth speeches and charisma, people were simply terrified of what was to come with an Obama victory.

Behind all of my friend's intellectual yada, yada, yada, festers a deep hatred for the rich and white people. In a conversation, he said with great glee that Obama was going to "reign in Wall Street" and CEO's salaries should be limited to $500,000 per year. I thought, "Who the heck are you to dictate how much someone should be permitted to earn. This is America. The sky's the limit."
Anger caused me to write a passionate reply to my friend's hate filled email. I stated numerous reasons why Obama's agenda and the health care bills are wrong for America.

Included was abortion. Fifty percent of black babies are aborted. (www.BlackGenocide.org) Also, Obama voted three times against protecting babies who survive an abortion. So, how does my black minister friend justify supporting Obama. And why does he consider anyone opposing Obama's policies non Christian, racist or an Uncle Tom if you are black?

Ready to hit "reply all," I remembered the White House requested all emails against ObamaCare be forwarded to them. I thought, why give them more ammo to attempt to shut me up? The folks on my friend's liberal email list are all infected will Obama Brainlock Syndrome. They do not want to know the truth. In the current climate set by our "I'm gonna make you a Health Care offer you can't refuse" president, I could be setting myself up for physical attacks.

Many sincere white Americans thought by electing a black president America could never again be characterized as a "racist country." Shamefully, this characterless administration betrayed Obama voters by exploiting race, using it as a tool to implement their far left agenda.

If you don't agree with everything Obama wants, you must be a racist. Rather than the election of America's first black president bringing the races together, Obama's administration is tearing us apart. They will continue to play the tired, old and tattered geriatric "race card" as long as it is effective.

Folks, please, please, please do not fall for it. The stakes are far too high. Boldly speak the truth and stand up for what you know in your hearts to be right for America. Obama wants to redistribute wealth, punish achievers, decide who lives or dies and control as much of our lives as possible. It is just that simple. His must be stopped. Do not allow yourselves to be manipulated and intimidated for fear of being called "racist."

Ironically, "Black Racism" has blinded my long time friend as well as many other black Americans from seeing beyond Obama's skin color. MLK would not be proud.

Why Obama Hates Sarah Palin

The Alaskans who know her love Sarah Palin. What is there not to like? Admittedly, Sarah H. Palin has almost nothing in common with Barack H. Obama, a slick-talking socialist who's been pampered ever since his teen years.

She's been a superb leader in a state mostly known for partisanship and reampant corruption. She talks the talk, and she walks the walk. I've said that people who don't like Sarah Palin (people like Letterman, Begala, Axelrod, and most Democrats) really don't like America. They don't like the kind of opportunity that's available to someone from modest origins. They don't like the fact she's a model wife and mother, mostly because they don't really believe women should be wives and mothers, apparently. They don't like her espousal of liberty, tolerance, and opportunity, because they believe in an America run by academic ideologues, like Dr. Zeke Emanuel. They don't like the fact that her son is in military, whereas their sons and daughters aren't. They hate the fact that she's an excellent athlete in a family of athletes. She's physically beautify, while they aren't. She makes them feel inferior, which they are.

Again, people who despise Sarah also despise America. It's that simple. Reportedly, Barack Obama is not a big fan of hers.

Obama Care: The Graveyard Shift

Please pass it on.Here's what Dick Morris thinks (not much) in boldface below of the removal of the end-of-life-counseling component from the Senate Finance Committee health proposal: Obama and congressional leftists have provided no answers to the questions Morris raises.

President Obama's retreat from his previous insistence on establishing a government owned insurance company to compete with private health insurers will do nothing at all to mitigate the massive rationing in medical care to the elderly his legislation will force. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, in a rare moment of profundity, said that government alternative to private health insurance is "not the essential element" of the administration's health care overhaul. How right she is.

The fundamental equation that means worse and worse medical care for our seniors remains exactly as it was before the public option was abandoned: Fifty million new patients to be treated and no extra doctors or nurses to care for them. The result will be precisely the same whether or not there is a public option -- massive rationing of medical services to the elderly.

\The legislation still plans to achieve 40% of its savings from cuts in Medicare, slicing reimbursement rates to doctors and hospitals encouraging them shortchange their elderly patients as a matter of economic necessity and shrinking further the population of doctors.

The deletion of the public insurance option is a good step. It reduces the likelihood of "socialized medicine" dominated by a single payer. But it does nothing to alter the basic equation of supply and demand which will doom medical care for the elderly.

Slogan: Obama Lies, Grandma Dies

Sarah Palin's "death panel" concept revisited:

The biggest problem with the Dem's health proposals is that they don't really try either to lower costs or to improve quality. Main point: no tort reform because the liberals are completely in bed with the trial lawyers, who extract a hundred billion-plus from our health system.

One fascinating development: hospitals in South America and India -- at least their top-tier hospitals -- are as good as MOST (not all) American hospitals. And insurance companies increasingly are flying people to New Delhi or Buenos Aires (and other sites) for operations. It turns out (rough numbers) that a heart bypass that costs $35,000 in the U.S. might cost $8,000 in India. Thus, the return flight tickets, the operation, and a short stay for recuperation can end up saving, say, $15,000 or more in costs.

The Economist had an article several months ago saying the number of Americans going to India or South America was nearly one million per year! They estimated the number could go to 10 million in the next decade or so. Start multiplying savings of $5 thousand or $10 thousand (or more) by ten million people, and the reduction in costs is immense.

If Americans see the numbers, which indicate they're not more likely to die in foreign hospitals, they are more inclined to take the trip. In some case, people are paying out of pocket (no health insurance) and saving money along with their lives appeal to them.

The Dem's health legislation is completely uncreative and basically will bring a meat-axe to medical costs. It will ration according to age and other statistical factors before it makes economic promises it will not be able to keep.

Thus, Dr. Thomas Sowell is correct: the Dems won't technically refuse care; instead, they will just refuse to pay for expensive treatments. The refusal to pay will not be a "death panel" as such, but it will have the same effects.

The following is my take on the public relations elements of the "death panel" debate:

From a public relations standpoint -- and yeah, I have been in that business since the mid-1970s -- the most important thing you can do is to put your opponents on the defensive. (We sometimes make the mistake of allowing ourselves to be put in a defensive posture.) One goal of Sarah's "death panel" concept is to get people like Obama and Specter (and Paul Begala and other drones) saying, "No, we don't have death panels in the legislation."

Keep them mentioning the phrase "death panel" -- and then hit them hard with statements like, "Gee, won't that be the practical effect of the mandated end-of-life counselling sessions?" Or, "won't that be the practical effect of making massive cuts in Medicare?" Or, "Gee, what about Obama's key adviser, Ezekiel Emanuel, who says a teenager's life is worth a lot more than that of a senior citizen?"

Keep them sputtering and blustering about the death panels. In short, keep asking them loaded questions -- keep passing them hand grenades. Bring up the "Jane Sturm" episode, where Obama was making the case that a healthy 100-year-old woman shouldn't have received a pacemaker -- the woman is now a health 105 year old. Bring up Obama's grandmother, whom he said shouldn't have received a hip replacement. That is, tie them knots, and beat them senseless.

Barack Obama, Say Hi to Dr. Jack Kevorkian. (President Death meets Dr. Death.)

The "Obama Health Care" plan really doesn't exist. What we have is HR 3200. Since Obama has not read a word of it, he's not real good on answering questions about it.

Is there really a death panel, as Sarah Palin charged? Yes, there is, but it will be renamed something like "Life begins at 90 panel."

Actually, it's name is The Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research. Its goal is to turn medical care from Mayo Clinic Model into the Dollar General model. Little secret: it's NOT about effectiveness. It's about reducing costs . . . and doing so at all costs.

In fact, the bill says its goal is "to slow the development of new medications and technologies in order to reduce costs." In other words, no more of those pesky (and expensive) new meds that will cure mom's breast cancer or dad's heart arrhythmia.

And then -- don't tell Barack! -- we will have a gentleman or gentlelady who will serve (with a bureaucracy in the tens of thousands) as The National Coordinator for Health Information and Technology. Sounds great, right?His (Her? Its/) job will be to "monitor treatments being delivered to make sure doctors and hospitals are strictly [key word] following government guidelines that are deemed appropriate." Notice the use of the passive voice ("are deemed"), which are always signs that bureaucrats are work, evading responsibility as they go.

What will happen to doctors and hospitals doing cutting-edge work to keep patients alive? As you might guess, those "no adhering to guidelines will face penalties," which will include hefty fines . . . and even prison terms, particularly handed out to conservative doctors who hate the Obama Plan.

Question: what about those doctors (including mine) and hospitals (some in my area) that are doing a tremendous job healing patients and saving lives? Will they be used as examples for other docs and hospitals? Surely you jest. My betting is that they will be the ones facing fines and jail times. They probably aren't following the already cockamamie government regulations and "guidelines."

Sarah Palin is being attacked in the White House, as well as on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, the Disney Channel, and CNN for describing ObamaCare as exactly what it is: an exercise in the proposition that when you can make sure people are safely dead, they don't "incur" any addional health costs. Can't argue with that. Do you really want to argue with the notion that an Obama who favors "live birth abortion" (i.e., infanticide) won't back a form of "eldercare" that includes euthanasia?

Admittedly, the death panel won't fully crank up until, say, the third term of Barack Obama, by then known as "President-for-Life." By then, we'll all be too numb to notice. Every home in America will have a super-size photo of Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel.

Town Halls: What's Really Happening

The following (below in boldface) is from my friend Elyse, who attended two town halls in New Jersey's 9th CD (congressional district). Where is it? If you're a fan of NY Giants and NY Jets football, it includes the area around the Meadowlands pro football stadium. Or if you're a fan of The Sopranos, well, you have a good image of the place, right down to Lodi, NJ, home of the fictitious "Bada Bing" strip club. The area used to be home to pig farms, gas stations, and abandoned buildings. Its smell was . . . not pleasant.

The congressman there is Steven Rothman, who votes 100% liberal and apparently is an enthusiastic participant in NJ's infamous "politics of corruption." Elyse's description of the town halls is below in boldface. Cong. Rothman, like most Democrats in the House, is totally unaware that his cluelessness is producing an explosive situation in the U.S. as his actions, along with those of other leftists, are making our country disappear as if it had all been a dream. The Rothmans of the world believe that it's all fine and good if they extract money from the relative few to buy votes from the many who sit as if they were baby birds waiting for "mom" to put worms in their mouth.s

I went to two town hall meetings yesterday done in my district by Steve Rothman, have two more today. Some of the things I noticed were:

- No muscle in evidence in the afternoon session (mostly seniors) in Wallington. Crowd was civil and almost cordial (heavily Democratic town) Seniors were pretty well informed however he cut them off at the knees when they started talking about provisions in the bill by saying nobody knows what the final bill looks like because there are 3 versions that came out of committee. HR 3200 is listed on dozens of congressmen's websites however I couldn't find it on his. No one asked him why the bills that are out of committee are not available for public view.

- Muscle in evidence last night but a bit more discreet than we've seen nationwide - no identifying shirts etc. at the town hall in Palisades Park. Several people commented about the large menacing man in the meeting room itself (I could not get closer than the hallway) who would glower if the people seated didn't voice their approval. Actually told Michele from the NJ Tea Party organization that he would eject her if she didn't keep it down.

- We were unable to ask spontaneous questions - if you wanted to speak you had to fill out a form that Rothman's staff was passing through the crowd (SRO) giving your name, address, phone, email address and the question you would like to ask. There were 4 "plants" in Wallington and at least 8 last night, called on strictly for their favorable comments.

-The Congressman's remarks were even keeled until the last 20 minutes or so when the blame game started going. The debt is Bush's fault yadda yadda [or "Bada Bing, Bada Bing?"]. No opportunity for rebuttal. You got your two minutes and that was it. Stupidly drew the comparison that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid technically were and are unconstitutional but so what???? Unreal. I couldn't believe he made such a dopey comment.

Bashed Reagan for giving amnesty to 5 million illegals besides! As if there were no objections to that action then. It was one of the biggest gaffes of Reagan's Presidency. Think he's a little desperate?

- The little Obamabot girls, those kids that answered the $11-15 an hour Craigslist ads carrying small signs that said Thank you Mr. President for Healthcare Reform...almost threw up. When I asked the one young lady if she knew what the bill was about she had absolutely NO CLUE. Just making a little extra money before school starts, how utterly capitalistic of her ;)

All in all the attendees for these town halls come prepared and angry. Very angry. I was impressed to see all age groups actively engaged, talking to their neighbors and being very clear that they do NOT want what these idiots are selling. Many did their homework, brought with them facts and were well spoken. Expect that as information regarding the parental rights built into the bill that we do have access to comes out today that the questions will get much much tougher.

Two more town halls today, this afternoon in Englewood Cliffs and tonight in Rutherford. Rutherford should be interesting, that is the hometown of my friend Vince who ran against Rothman this past election ;)Elyse

Revealing Pictures: GWB, Obama, Palin

The best way to evaluate Presidents and potential Presidents is not by words written by someone else and recited from a TelePrompter, but rather by their actions. The pictures below are worth more a 1,000 words, and they illustrate actions that tell us nearly all we need to know about the basic decency of President George W. Bush, Gov. Sarah Palin, and Barack Hussein Obama. If every American would take a good look at these pictures, it would help ensure that Obama would be a one-term President. In words and actions, BHO has shown his lack of respect for the unborn, the disabled (remember his Special Olympics "joke" on Letterman?) and the elderly. Eventually, God will judge this deeply flawed man. Soon, say 2012, the American people will get to sit in judgment on his atrocious presidency.

Obama's Health Plan Shafts Disabled

As regards children with autism, their major protector within the political world is Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. She looks at them as American citizens with special needs who deserve special protection.

Obama looks at them as non-voters and thus not one of the groups that he wishes to favor. Obama's bad taste joke on Letterman about the Special Olympics illustrates where he stands on special needs kids and adults, whom he supposedly regards as a burden to society.

Obama's "death panel," condemned by Gov. Palin, will appear as the government takes over health care almost completely. It will set "guidelines" that will separate Obama's favorite groups, such as the more militant unions, from his least favorite groups, including those with autism and Down Syndrome.

Does this sound overly cynical? In fact, it is just a statement of the way Obama, Axelrod, and Emanuel operate. Oh yes, there may be a bone tossed in the direction of the disabled, but they don't need bones. Rather, they need good health care, including physiotherapy and psychological assistance. That's precisely what they won't get.

On death panels, I urge people to read (on Wikipedia and elsewhere) about Obama's "health" advisers, including Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel and Jacob Blumenthal, as well as Princeton Professor Peter Singer, an important outside influence. Emanuel is a death-worshipper. Blumenthal thinks rigid government controls are a good way to "control costs." Singer believes that people with severe disabilities have no real right to life.

What about Obama's "advisers" on the other side? Sadly, there are none.

If there are humane, intellectually sound ways to reduce costs -- and there are, with such things as medical liability reform -- they are NOT included in the Obama Plan. Civil liability reform would offend the ambulance chasers (John Edwards is the most famous one) who contributed tens of millions of dollars to Obama's campaign. Such tort reform would save as much as a trillion dollars over the next 5-6 years, but it will never happen as long as Obama/Pelosi/Reid are in power.

My wife and I save for ourselves (and the nation) approximately $1300 a year by ordering prescriptions in bulk. Why doesn't the Obama Administration encourage such savings nationwide? Because it would anger the executives of pharmaceutical stores retailers who have embraced the Obama Plan in order not to be punished by the Administration.

We all like to engage in philosophical debates about health reform. However, if we want to know what's really going on, we need to remember an old line from Watergate: "Follow the money." Obama knows that politics and power have everything to do with money.

This gets us back to autistic and Down Syndrome children. Their contributions to the Obama Campaign (one that's endless) adds up to . . . zero. Therefore, they will get nothing from the man who is pretending to be "our president."

Obama Destroying Black Income, Families

The bad news is that, for Blacks, especially poor ones, unemployment is rising while income is falling. But the banks and other companies Obama bailed out with hundreds of billions in taxpayer money are reporting "record profits" and paying big bonuses -- reportedly one hundred million to one energy "trader.' (The energy traders are those who help artificially jack up prices for gasoline and home heating oil.)

Of course, the banks, like Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and others are the ones who "donated" all that money to the Obama Campaign. Barack Obama takes care of his "friends." He appreciates Black votes, but isn't about to do anything to earn them.

Might it be time yet to start rubbing the noses of yesterday's Obama supporters in such facts? Gee, the first mixed race president is presiding in the most precipitous drop in the standard of living -- and the quality of life -- for Black people. As Michelle Obama said (althuogh not in the way she meant it), "It's time for Black folks to wake up."

Oh, and Barack's and Michelle's combined income last year was $2.8 milion. Sasha and Malia go to a (mostly white) private school that costs $30,000 a year -- for each of them. At least one guy with some African ancestry is doing very, very well.

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in Chrysler, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything?

Palin Condemns Obama's Health Schemes

Sarah Palin is horrified by Obama's efforts to nationalize the U.S. health care system and have bureaucrats make life and death decisions for Americans. She wrote the following today on her Facebook page.

As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost.

And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course.

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.

We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens.

If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” Let’s stop and think and make our voices heard before it’s too late.
